Meet Claire Magid our newest teacher to join the Little Tots teaching crew. is a board-certified music therapist, hospice and palliative care music therapist, end of life doula, certified dementia practitioner and piano teacher living in Leesburg, VA. She is currently pursuing her grief counselor certification. Claire wanted to pursue the Music Together teacher training as a way to allow herself the flexibility to stay home with her infant daughter while still doing what she loves: bringing music into people’s lives!

Claire has well over a decade of experience working with the geriatric population and has been working with children as a piano teacher for 14 years. Claire has experience providing music therapy services for a variety of clients of all ages. Claire created and led music therapy sessions for children with special needs as well. She is so excited to be a Music Together teacher and to share her love of music with young kids!

In her spare time, Claire enjoys volunteering at her son’s elementary school, attending her son’s baseball games (she loves being a baseball mom!) and spending time with her husband, their three kids and their many pets.

We’re excited to introduce our newest teacher, Ms. Carina Gutjahr!

Ms. Carina grew up in Annandale, VA and holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music education from Syracuse University.

She brings with her ten years of experience teaching elementary and middle school band in Fairfax County Public Schools. After stepping away from the classroom to raise her 16-month-old son, Auggie, she’s thrilled to share her love of music and children with our Little Tots community.

Ms. Carina is currently teaching our Saturday classes and will also be leading the
6-week summer session in July and August.

Well today was fun! We got to sing all of our fun songs then play with the chicken, ducks, turkeys and goats!

Wow! What a great week of playing with tambourines!

Today was the first week for our Saturday classes and even though I stressed and rearranged classes and families it was packed and vibrant! Saturday classes are just a different vibe. Today we even had an aunt and uncle (who sang so well!) visiting class.

It was fun.

Little Tots Music Together! - Classes

Who can relate to this? The BEST part of class, am I right? 😁

We had such a fantastic start to our Tambourine session last week! It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new smiling faces as we explored music together.

Last week, we played with rhythm sticks and egg shakers, moving to the beat and discovering different sounds. We also sang favorites like Betty Martin and See the Pony Galloping—and what fun it was to gallop and bounce along!

We know that children are, well, children! That means they probably won’t sit in the circle for the full 45 minutes, and that’s okay! Some may choose to explore the room, watch from a distance, or simply take it all in. While it may not seem like they’re "participating" in class, watch for musical behaviors at home—clapping, singing, or even repeating rhythms they heard in class.

A gentle reminder for parents: Your participation is key! The more your child sees you singing, moving, and engaging, the more likely they are to do the same. You are your child’s most influential music teacher, and your enthusiasm sets the tone for their experience.

We can’t wait for another week of music-making with you and your little ones. This week we plan on passing out the song book so you will have access to the music at home. See you soon!
