SNOW BLINDNESS by Peiran WANG


Snow Blindness comprises a science fiction novel and a video installation of the same name, whose narrative scope expands from the global political issues in the novel to the planetary ideological realm incorporating cross-cultural elements in the video. The novel is set in the near future, where humanity has lost its reproductive ability. Driven by her dreams, a woman living in Zurich decides to travel to an ancient mountain in China in search of a flower, while Earth is undergoing a series of deployments related to Mars colonization. The video installation features a spaceship resembling a house, with an artificial intelligence system floating in space, attempting to analyze human hair to uncover the causes of societal failure.

Wie kann ich kommunizieren, ohne zu diskriminieren?  Was hat Sprache mit Zughörigkeit und Herkunft zu tun? Wie geht gendern? Wie reflektiere ich meine Sprachverwendung? And how does language change the way we think? 

Yris Apsit, Alumni Master Transdisziplinarität, und Sylvia Battegay, Issue Managerin der Hochschulkommunikation der ZHdK, führen im Rahmen des Diversity Lunch Talks der Fachstelle Gleichstellung & Diversität auf unterschiedliche Weise in die Vielfalt von Sprache und unseren persönlichen Umgang damit ein.

Die Veranstaltung findet in Deutsch und Englisch statt, eine Anmeldung ist nicht notwendig.

How can I be more inclusive through language?  What tools can I apply to acknowledge diversity through my use of language? How does gendering work? How do I reflect on my use of language? Und wie verändert Sprache unsere Art zu denken?

Mit «Trautes Heim, Glück allein», einer Decke zur fehlenden Sichtbarkeit von häuslicher Gewalt regt Milena Schircks (BA Trends and Identity 2022) dazu an, sich im vertrauten Rahmen über die verschiedenen Facetten häuslicher Gewalt auszutauschen. Die Decke sorgt dafür, dass die Gewalt, welche viele Frauen* hinter verschlossenen Türen erfahren, anerkannt und thematisiert wird.

Diversity Cinema: 31. Januar, 12:15–13:15 Uhr, Kino Toni 3.G02: MOTËR

Am Dienstag 31.Januar zeigt das Diversity Cinema MOTËR (Dorentina Imeri /
Drama, 12 Min. / CH 2022
Festivals: u.a. International Kurzfilmtage Winterthur 2022) im Kino Toni der ZHdK. Im Anschluss an den Kurzfilm führen wir ein Gespräch mit der Filmemacherin Dorentina Imeri und der ZHAW Expertin Dilyara Müller-Suleymanova, zu deren Forschungsschwerpunkten Migration und Bildungspolitik gehören.

Eine albanische Familie kämpft, um sich in der Schweiz über Wasser zu halten und zu integrieren. Damit der seidene Faden nicht reisst, übernimmt die ältere Tochter die ganze Verantwortung. MOTËR thematisiert die Lebenswirklichkeit einer Familie mit Migrationsgeschichte und macht spürbar, was es bedeuten kann, wenn der finanzielle Handlungsspielraum begrenzt ist.

Die Veranstaltung ist eine Kooperation der ZHdK, Fachstelle Gleichstellung & Diversity und der Fachrichtung Film, mit der ZHAW Diversity-Beauftragten des Departements Soziale Arbeit.
