What is life? Why cells and atoms haven’t answered the question. 16/08/2021

What is life? Why cells and atoms haven’t answered the question.

.. „Why is this new perspective so radical? What's most important is it's not reductive. That means it does not reduce life to "just" the laws governing quarks or whatever quarks are made of. Without doubt, life is a physical system, but by creating and then harnessing intricate ballets of information flows, life does something amazing: it creates. The focus on networks of information flows means its laws may be emergent. Life's laws would not, therefore, be encoded in the laws of quarks. Instead, they only emerge when enough matter is brought together in the right conditions for networks of information flows to become possible. That's when novelty enters the universe.“ ..

What is life? Why cells and atoms haven’t answered the question. 75 years after Erwin Schrödinger's prescient description of something like DNA, we still don't know the "laws of life."

Tongue...use it wisely 😜

Your tongue acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line that runs right down to your toes!

In nearly all my patients, I see poor tongue posture, and the links to bad spinal posture, breathing, and other issues are felt right throughout the body.

The simplest way we can see how the tongue is so influential is how it supports proper head posture. When the tongue is down and forward, forward head posture and mouthbreathing occurs.

Over time this associates with a narrow jaw, crooked teeth, and sleep disorders.

But… you guessed it, as always the mouth is a gateway for so many other systems in the body.

The tongue is an extremely complex muscular and fascial rudder system.

It guides all the structures of the myofascial continuity that runs from the inner arch of the foot all the way up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.

Isn’t that amazing?

Actually the tongue is potentially more important for core stability than turning on your actual core.

Our core begins deep under the arch with the insertions of the tendons from the lower leg, especially tibialis posterior.

To find its insertion, feel just under the inside arch of the foot, just underneath and forward of protrusion of the navicular bone you can feel a bit over an inch in front of your tibial malleolus on the inside of your ankle.

This point will respond to a soft-but-energy-rich touch that is held, and also to a more firm and direct fascial release. Pressing here can make a flow of feeling run up the fascial line.

So for better core support, spinal, hip and leg strength, you need to work on your tongue posture.

During exercise practice sealing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, this turns on the fascial rudder to the toes. It takes time and you need to work on making the BACK of the tongue connect to the soft palate. More on this to come.

Do we brain-wash ourselves every night? Maybe so.

During slow-wave sleep, which predominates in the first part of the night, cerebral blood flow is reduced by 25%.

Researchers found that this reduction allows an inflow of cerebrospinal fluid and may help clear waste products. #ScienceMagArchives https://fcld.ly/rxcs8e0

Short and comprehensive -the Text-

THE VAGUS NERVE

A seemingly never-ending branching nerve that connects most of our major organs to our brain 🧠.

It’s the longest cranial nerve in our body, one for the right side and one for the left. And is largely responsible for the #mindbody connection for its role as a mediator between thinking and feeling, you know our “gut feeling.”

The vagus nerve is the “queen” of the parasympathetic nervous system. The “rest and digest” or the #chillout nerve. So the more we do things to activate the #vagus nerve (like deep #breathing), the most we combat the effects of its opposer, the sympathetic nervous system - the “fight or flight”, rushing around, have to do something, #stress releasing one.

A few other functions of the vagus nerve, just to name a few:
▪️slows your heart rate and respiration.
▪️lowers blood pressure.
▪️helps with calmness and relaxation.
▪️controls involuntary muscles in the digestive system, therefore, aiding digestion.
▪️taste sensation.
▪️movement function for the muscles in the neck responsible for swallowing and speech.
▪️gut-brain communication.
▪️reduces inflammation.

Just think about it 😉

Brain has 4 different lobes, and each lobe plays a crucial role in performing simple day to day actions such as hearing, speaking, visualising, processing information or even remembering information.

The Feldenkrais Guild UK

"I am not going to correct anybody, but everybody will correct themselves.

In order to correct you must feel, not only what is wrong, but also feel how to correct." - Moshe Feldenkrais

In a talk at the beginning of a series of lessons Moshe taught at Esalen in 1972, he asserts that our ability to feel and sense ourselves becomes diminished when our system is stressed or under excessive strain.

To improve our sensitivity we have to start by becoming comfortable.

Comfort begins to reduce the noise in our nervous system, which then begins to increase our ability to feel and sense.

It is for this reason that many Feldenkrais lessons start with lying on our backs.

If we go through a process of learning to find greater degrees of comfort during movement, we will become aware of when we feel something is correct (comfortable) or incorrect (uncomfortable).

This provides a very clear path for 'correcting' (improving) ourselves.
