It is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, which "recognizes that the injustices and prejudices fueled by racial discrimination take place every day" (https://bit.ly/4crZ0y0).

Today, we would like to highlight environmental racism. "Environmental racism is the disproportionate proximity and greater exposure of Indigenous, Black and other racialized communities to polluting industries and environmentally hazardous activities" (https://bit.ly/3x0nuOS). This is a form of racism that is still present in our society.

To learn more:

➡️ Visit The Canadian Encyclopedia entry: https://bit.ly/3x0nuOS
➡️ Watch There's Something in the Water: https://bit.ly/3Vn6Zqd

"Elliot Page returns to his home province in Canada to meet with Black and Indigenous women who are working to end the legacy of environmental racism in Nova Scotia. Based on Ingrid Waldron's book by the same name, There's Something in the Water traces the environmental catastrophes that plague remote, low income, and often Indigenous or Black communities" (https://bit.ly/3Vn6Zqd).
