June Is National Indigenous History Month in Canada. 🧡

Here are some ideas to get involved and show your support:
✨Pick up a book, attend a show, watch a movie, or listen to music from Indigenous artists.
✨Educate yourself about key historical events, reconciliation initiatives and the impacts that colonialism and racism still have on the lives of Indigenous Peoples today.

⚠️ It is NEVER safe to leave a child alone in a vehicle.

🌡️ Here are some facts on the serious risks:
👉 A child’s body can overheat about 3-5 times faster than an adult’s.
👉 The air inside a vehicle heats up quickly. A previously air conditioned vehicle can jump to over 50⁰C within 20 minutes on a 20⁰C day.
👉 Rising temperatures inside a car can cause a child to suffer from heat stress, dehydration, shock and, in extreme cases, even death.

Once you know your helmet is safe it is important to make sure that it fits properly. To do so, follow these tips:

🚴‍♀️The helmet should cover the top of the forehead and should rest about two fingers’ width above the eyebrows.
🚴‍♀️Side straps should fit snugly around each ear in a “V” shape.
🚴‍♀️Buckles on the side strap should fit right under the ear. Buckle the chin strap. Tighten it until you can fit only one finger between the strap and your chin.

For more info on bike helmet safety see Parachute Canada's website: https://ow.ly/EhUC50SioUL
