Operating as usual

GREAT NEWS...our Fall Teen "Learn to Cook" program is back for another season!
Do you have any teens or pre-teens (10-16yo) in your family who would love to learn to cook, or are looking to expand their cooking skills? We have just the program for them: 4 Friday evenings from 5.30 to 7.30pm beginning Nov 17th. Book as a set or single classes. Each class includes a dinner at the end, and a special Holiday celebration on the last day. Leslie and Green Lane area.
Our programs are mega fun, educational, and far from the ordinary. Only 8 students per class so don't delay.

Write to us at [email protected] for more information, pricing and registration.

Last 2 days of Cooking Camp last week: Making chicken noodle soup from scratch (including the noodles), and peeling and cleaning whole shrimp to make a delicious and healthy chicken and shrimp stir-fry. Then a fun field-trip to the St. Lawrence Market in Toronto the next day for a variety of tastings, lunch, and a food hunt!

Last call for our final camp for this summer next week Aug 28th - Sept 1st. Few spaces available due to double bookings. Special rates to fill these spots.

Write to us at [email protected] for more information.

Supper last Sunday evening: Linguine pasta alle vongole (Linguine with clams, white wine and garlic) and a glass of Jacobs Creek Moscato. 30 minutes to make from start to finish... and even less to gobble up, lol.

So pumped to have a great group of campers this week (aged 10 to 15yo), just as we've had for all our camps this Summer so far. They are fun, humorous and love their food and learning to cook.
Today they learned knife skills, made linguine from scratch, Mexican meatballs, smoked paprika sauce, a lasagne, fresh salad and lemon dressing and for dessert, mini mandarin ginger cheesecakes. Not a single leftover...and this was only day 1.

Our Summer Cooking Camps are in full swing and the kids (and us too) are having a ball! Lots of Great Food, savouries, desserts, baking and cooking skills being made and learned.
We're almost sold out for the remaining weeks but have the following availability that we'd like to fill:

Aug 14 - 18 (11yo - 16yo): only 2 spots remaining
Aug 28 - Sept 1 (6yo - 9yo, and 10yo - 16yo): Wait list

We've also had inquiries for a camp for 6yo - 9yo for the week of Aug 21 - 25 and will open that week if we have enough registrants. Please let us know if you are interested.
Please contact us at [email protected] if you are interested in any of the above.

So what did our pre-Teens and teens cook up last week?
It was a week of personal requests and technical challenges - which they all wanted and loved!
The pre-Teens asked to make tortellini by hand- so we did, and enjoyed them with a delicious cream sauce and a green bean, tomato and mini potato salad. One little boy loved oranges and asked for a dessert using them.. the result were delicious chocolate and orange 'pots de crème'!

Our teens all expressed an interest in working with fish, so they learned how to skin salmon and then each of them very successfully made the technical challenging 'Salmon Wellington'. They also made green bean almondine (including fiddleheads), devilled eggs (as requested) and finished off with a Blueberry Buckle.

One class remains for this week after which we begin our fantastic series of Summer Camps. A few spaces still remain for these amazing weeks of cooking, food and fun.

If interested, don't delay. Write to us at [email protected] for more info and a registration package.

Well...we did it again!
Week 2 of our pre-Teen and Teen evening cooking classes. The pre-Teens had fun using breakfast foods to make lunch or dinner: Sausage rolls, mini chive, bacon and mushroom quiches in hashbrown nests, and a decadent 10 layer pancake 'cake' filled with chocolate and raspberry jam.

Meanwhile, our Teens had a taste of Argentina, making pulled pork, chimichurri, a cabbage and carrot salad and delicious Flan Mixto, with dulce de leche sauce.

Two more weeks remaining if you'd like to join us for these programs, and don't forget - our popular Summer Camps in Aurora, Newmarket and Sharon are filling fast!
Contact us at [email protected] for more details on any of these programs.

We'd love your kids to have any of these AMAZING and OUTSTANDING experiences!

Well, our pre-Teen and Teen after school cooking programs got off to a flying start last week! While learning knife skills, discovering foods and ingredients that were new to some, and doing lots of chopping, mixing, sautéeing, and baking, our pre-teens on Thursday evening made delicious Turkey tacos, a Primavera pasta salad (vegan) and a rich chocolate pudding from scratch. On Friday evening, our teens explored rhubarb and made a rhubarb and strawberry cake, rhubarb crumble, a Turkey Cobb salad and 5-spice sticky wings! Lips were smackin' and bellies were full! This week, our pre-Teens will learn how to use breakfast items to make lunch or dinner, and our Teens will explore the food of Argentina. Do you have Teens or pre-Teens who love to cook? Or any picky eaters? We'd love to have them join us while a few spots are available. Write to us at [email protected] for details.

Great news from "Great Food!"

Our Friday night Cooking program for Teens begins November 4th and runs for 4 Friday evenings to Dec. 2nd, excluding Nov 18th. Classes may be booked as a set of 4, or individually and will be located in the Leslie and Green Lane area.

The program is a LOT of fun.

Students will meet from 5.30pm - 8.30pm and prepare a 3 (sometimes 4) dish dinner which they get to enjoy after they cook. The dishes will be wholesome and fun as well as practical and interesting to a growing teen; always something they can quickly prepare for themselves or for their families for dinner (and they do!). The December class will feature a holiday theme. They will be exposed to a variety of contemporary food preparation techniques, cuisines and cooking styles.

If interested, please write to us at [email protected] for pricing (very reasonable) and other details. We'd love to have your teen join us.

Thank you for an outstanding "Great Food!" Culinary Cooking Camp last week in Aurora for the 6 - 9yo age range. I'm so proud of these amazing kids who love to cook, explore, experiment and eat...and then some!
They loved getting their hands deliciously dirty with garlicky meatballs, fresh tomtom sauce, Buffalo cauliflower, hand ground spice shish kebabs, fruit pancakes, lots of garden fresh salads, a chocolate fondue, kale chips, okra, and LOTS more (5 dishes a day) well as knife skills, kitchen safety, table setting and dec and still lots of time to play and eat outdoors. Their week ended with a fantastic field trip to the Toronto Islands where they learned about ecology, flowers and pollinators, and made fresh herbal and floral tea bags. They seemed to have loved their week and so did I!

This week's camp for 9 - 16yo in Newmarket/Sharon is sold out, but we have 2 spots remaining for the following week Aug 22 (also 9 - 16yo) and a few spots for the final week Aug 29 for the 6 - 9yo group.
If you have kids who love to cook, learn and eat, we'd love to have them with us. Write to us at [email protected] for more info.
