Monday Motivation: Harmony and Unity
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”
Psalm 133:1

“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
Romans 12:16-18

“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.”
1 Corinthians 1:10

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:2-3

An essential part of being a Christian is living in harmony and unity with others, especially other Christians. Paul offers some clear-cut instructions for Believers in today’s verses: live in peace and harmony, do what is right, agree with one another, and be humble, gentle, and patient. There is strength in the Spirit when Christians unite as one body and mind. God created us as being meant to live in a thriving and supportive community, but because of sin, things like differing opinions and hate can get in the way. Living in harmony and unity means accepting differences with love, patience, and humility. Why is it important for Christians to remain united in life and beliefs? Is there a situation where you need to act in harmony and humility? How would you extend love and patience in such a situation? What changes could you make to be more united and harmonious with other Christians?
