Commander Defence Force National Heroes Day Message

On this special day, I take this opportunity to wish the citizens of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Officers and Marines a Happy National Heroes Day. We pause to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and independence and our nation builders who have paved the way for a better and brighter Bahamas.

This occasion also allows me the opportunity to personally thank the Officers and Marines of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, who along with those hard-working individuals within the community, continue to serve this country with diligence and fervor. As we continue to work through and fight this pandemic that has affected our country, I am especially grateful for the families and loved ones who demonstrate unwavering support to their heroes who get dressed for work each day.

As we celebrate the unsung heroes among us, we do so with a heart of gratitude and thankfulness. I am especially appreciative of the sacrifices of the men and women of our country who are on the frontline, those who are in the private and public sectors who continue to fight each day during this pandemic. We salute past and present men and women of the military who have made valuable contributions since its inception. So, as we salute those heroes within our society, we also salute and publicly recognize those individuals of this great organization, before and currently, who have guarded and protected the territorial waters of The Bahamas and propelled us toward a common loftier goal.

It is therefore with great pleasure that I extend a warm Happy National Heroes Day on behalf of the Officers, Senior Enlisted, Junior Enlisted, Reservists, Veterans, and Rangers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force to Bahamians everywhere.
