Today, in recognition of Pride month and as a symbol of belonging, respect, community, and inclusion, our DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) Committee proudly raised the Pride flag.

More than a celebration, this moment reflects the values we strive to live every day, ensuring that every student feels safe, seen, supported, and valued for exactly who they are.

💙 Belonging – Everyone deserves a place where they feel they belong.
💚 Respect – Our differences make us stronger.
💛 Integrity – We stand by what we believe in and support one another.
🧡 Courage – We celebrate those who live authentically and those who stand up for others.
❤️ Empathy – We listen, learn, and lead with kindness.

As the Pride flag flies over our St. John's campus, it serves as a reminder that our school is a place where everyone is welcome, everyone is respected, and everyone belongs.

Thank you to our students, staff, families, and allies for helping create a community we can all be proud of, not just during Pride Month, but every day of the year.

Last week we were delighted to welcome representatives from Bermuda Commercial Bank to school for a 'lunch & learn'. They spoke to Saltus Secondary students about personal finance and the importance of budgeting. The session revolved around 'The Bermuda Budget Challenge,' where students were given a monthly salary and had to make it last while also paying the bills!" Thank you Bermuda Commercial Bank!

Employee Spotlight

What’s your story: where did you grow up, and where do you call home now? I was born and raised in St. George's, Bermuda. This will always be home to me.

What’s been your most “this is why I love my job” moment at work so far? This is tough as there are so many rewarding moments. I will say my "this is why I love my job" moment is when the students come into the office or randomly stop me to say hi, compliment me or simply show appreciation.

What's a Saltus moment you’ll always remember? I remember covering the Upper Primary Office and all of the teachers encouraging me to take on the role full time. I wasn't sure about it originally but at that moment I felt welcomed and knew it was where I was supposed to be.

What’s something people would never guess about you at first glance? I am actually very shy and dislike large crowds.

What’s a hobby or interest you could talk about for hours? Dance and crafting!

When you’re off the clock, what do you love doing most? Spending time with my daughters, teaching swimming, and crafting.

What’s your “survive the day” snack or drink of choice? Iced Matcha Latte and DILLicious Pop Yeast Popcorn

What’s your ultimate comfort food, the one that never misses? Lobster and salmon.
