IV infusions or injections of >100 ml per 12-hour period are prohibited, except when received as part of a hospital treatment❕

IV infusions or injections received in a medical practitioner's office, medical facility at a sports venue, or IV clinic are prohibited and require a TUE to cover use.

Always check the anti-doping status of the ingredients received within an IV infusion or injection and obtain a copy of your drugs chart and all treatment records prior to being discharged.

More information can be found about IV infusions and emergency medicines on UKAD's Special Topics page 👇

UKAD recently launched an Asthma Inhaler Threshold Calculator as part of our resources - helping athletes who suffer with asthma or other breathing conditions to understand when their inhaler use is prohibited in sport ✅

The calculator is simple to use. The user inputs the substance, the number of puffs they take and the dose. The calculator then works out the final amounts and whether the inhaler use is permitted or prohibited in sport. The tool helps to explain the conditional anti-doping status of these four substances - inhaled formoterol, inhaled salbutamol, inhaled salmeterol, and inhaled vilanterol.

Visit our asthma inhaler webpage for information on asthma inhalers, and scroll down to the calculator to get your results ⬇️
