Culture is caught, but it is also taught. π§π²β¨π¨
This week is International Culture and Art Education Week, a global UNESCO initiative highlighting how heritage, identity, and creative expression form a well-rounded education.
Think back to last Fridayβs incredible Bermuda Day celebrations. The electrifying drumlines, the dazzling majorettes, the iconic Gombey troupes, the dancers, and the intricate floats didnβt happen by chance. Behind every single handmade costume and choreographed step is a foundation built on learning, mentorship, and deep-rooted arts education. π₯ππ½π¨
To ensure these traditions continue to flourish, we must invest in our young creatives.
Join us as we close out the season with the grand finale of the Spring Into the Arts Showcase! Come witness the incredible talent of our public school students and help us celebrate the dedicated arts educators who nurture their imagination every day.

P5 & P6 students Mari Whyte, Michael Thompson, Elijah Russell, and Nhasyr Paynter shine in photos from our unforgettable field trip to the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences in St. Georgeβs on 05/05/2026. They dove into circuits and robotics.
Every student was fully engaged as they:

A hands-on, curiosity-sparking day that brought science and technology to life through teamwork and discovery! ππ€π¬

Autism Awareness Month (April) was amazing, but at West Pembroke School, inclusion is a year-round commitment! πβ¨
Weβre looking back at a month filled with neurodiversity pride, classroom readings, and one very competitive Kindness Challenge (shoutout to our pizza party winners! π).
But West Pembroke isn't stopping there.
As we move into May, autism classrooms are preparing to host a special Sensory Experience Lab. This gives our entire school the chance to step into the shoes of their peers and understand how different sensory profiles experience the world.
Inclusion isnβt a buzzword here - itβs how we grow. π

"In Bermuda, the ocean is part of our everyday life. Itβs who we are." ππ§π²
Our science instructional leaders recently headed to BIOS - Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences to explore how we can bring more "real-world" science into our classrooms!
From touring the research vessel Atlantic Explorer to meeting with BIOS and Arizona State University experts, we are working to ensure our students have front-row seats to global ocean research.
Whether itβs through virtual reality or hands-on excursions, weβre committed to sparking a passion for science that starts right here at home. π§ͺπ₯οΈ

π± Our Little Gardeners at Work! π±
In early March, our Lyceum Preschoolers selected their herb seedlings: parsley, basil, lemon balm, thyme, and dill. Since then, theyβve taken full responsibility for their garden - watering, finding the best sunny spots, and even tackling a bit of weeding!
This year, the students chose to grow a herb garden with a special goal in mind: harvesting their herbs to take home and use in their own cooking. We love seeing their excitement as they nurture their plants and look forward to creating something delicious with what theyβve grown.
Stay tuned as our garden continues to flourish! πΏβ¨
