Somersfield Academy’s pickleball team competed at the W.E.R. Joell Tennis Stadium in the Primary School Pickleball Tournament, facing some of the island’s top young players.
After weeks of training in PE and lunchtime sessions with Ms. Winstanley and Mrs. Troake, our students delivered an outstanding performance, showing skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Highlights included an all-Somersfield girls’ final, with Aleisha Siddiqi and Molly Morton crowned champions, and Ethan Adelsburg and Ethan Weaver taking the boys’ title.
We are incredibly proud of all our student-athletes and their efforts.

Former student Jackson Taylor, who attended Somersfield Academy from age 3 to M3, is continuing his commitment to youth sport and community development through a series of initiatives in Bermuda. These include a recent sports equipment drive supporting local youth athletes.
Building on this work, he is now running a football development session for younger children, endorsed by former NFL player Fred Barnett. Jackson has emphasised the importance of safe, accessible entry points into sport, alongside quality coaching and mentorship.

Our M3 Community Project Showcase celebrated the culmination of a year of inquiry, action, and personal growth. Throughout the process, students explored topics that mattered to them, addressed real community needs, and brought their ideas to life through thoughtful planning and meaningful action.
Congratulations to all of our M3 students on completing this important milestone. Thank you to our families for their support throughout the journey, and to Mrs Kelly Rodday for her guidance and leadership in helping students grow as socially conscious, independent thinkers.

The Dragonflies went to Trunk Island with BAMZ. They not only got to travel on the bus AND in a boat, but they were able to get close to the turtles, learn about Longtails, Bermuda flora and fauna, and just have fun!

Our M1 students recently took part in the Endeavour sailing programme, a hands-on experience that took learning out of the classroom and onto the water.
Over four days, they explored sailing in practice—building sail cars, learning about wind, weather, buoyancy, and rigging, and then putting it all into action on the water. They worked on boat handling, points of sail, and speed control, with daily knot challenges and time for reflection built in.
They also looked at marine debris and its impact on our oceans, and discussed how everyday choices can help make a difference.
The programme connects closely with Somersfield Academy’s mission of developing socially conscious, independent thinkers and supports our vision of a student-centred education that builds confidence, awareness, and compassion. It also reflects our values through teamwork, curiosity, responsibility, and respect for the natural environment.
