IN ANY CRISIS it is important that every single individual prepares himself or herself. It is important that you make special provision for the most vulnerable - your elderly, your children, your people with disabilities.

Please do not wait for someone to create a plan for you - do it for yourself. This is one of the great advantages of universal education.

It is important for you to implement certain rules within your own home. For example start keeping visitors away from your elderly whether symptomatic or - asymptomatic. As for the others boost your immunity!

Some of you run businesses. However small your business, meet with your key staff and develop a plan for your business. Are you going to wipe down after each customer? Are you going to instruct staff to stay at home if they start to experience symptoms?

You have to tailor a plan to suit your business.

If you are an employee ask your immediate supervisor about the business' COVID-19 Plan.

If your immediate supervisor or those above him/her do not take it seriously speak to your fellow employees and implement your own plan. If that fails implement your own personal plan. One thing you can do is try to implement keeping the space around you that you need, where possible.

What about the schools - ask your children's schools for their plans. If they do not have one convene a meeting of the PTA! Anyone has the power to do this. If all else fails decide early what you are going to do about your children.

Have you had a meeting with anyone around you?

Most Barbadians belong to an organisation Church, Trade Union, Credit Union, Professional Association insist that they act to ensure that every Barbadian has a plan to deal with COVID-19.

Measures work best if you implement them early. Please do not wait for someone to tell you what to do. Do what you can. There is a great deal of information on the internet. Develop your own plans please.
