Kaden Forde, an Ifillian.
Every student should be celebrated.
Kaden is dyslexic. He has had several challenges over the years and he has done well!
Kaden will be attending St. George Secondary School where caring and supportive teachers will continue the good work.
I do not know where some of our citizens in Barbados developed this belief that certain schools are not good schools! Nonsense!
St. George secondary has one of the best academic and sporting programs in Barbados and it is one of the cleanest secondary schools on the island, bar none!
They have an extensive academic programme, athletics, extra-curricular activities plus more.
I am tired of hearing about certain schools on this island as though students at other schools cannot achieve success!
I remember as though it was yesterday. Kaden’s parents sat in a room with me to discuss their child’s development and his mother, Sharon, showed me an assessment which was was done a few years prior. She was very emotional, she didn’t know what to do and she wasn’t sure that he would be able to succeed. I told her “Let me do what I do.”
That was 2 years ago.
When she received the results, she was emotional and overjoyed just like other parents whose children are attending Queen’s College, Harrison College and The St. Michael School. Let me put it like this:
There was absolutely zero difference in success between Kaden and any other student. He came from single digits to scoring double digits.
Every child learns differently.
Kaden has had the full support of his family and I have always had faith that he would have made us all proud.
Kaden, my son, I am proud of you and I know that you will do excellent things at your new school. Let them know how fast you are, let them know that you want to be a boxer. Develop your current talents and learn new talents.
Continue to support him Sharon and remember that you are part of the reason that he believes in himself. You and his Dad are a part of his success.
PS: While you will be wearing green now, please find some purple to add to the colours. The Hulk wore purple pants once too!
