Year 1 Fire Education Visit// Yesterday our Year 1 students enjoyed learning about how to be safe, had a fire truck tour and even got to have a go at squirting the hose when the fire emergency services visited!
They engaged in interactive, collaborative learning experiences to promote their understanding of good and bad fires, the dangers of smoke, dialling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency, the role of the emergency services in helping in a fire emergency, safety around fires and having a school and home escape plan.

Reconciliation Week Assembly// Every student in our school decorated a stone to send a message of reconciliation to all First Nations people. Everyone placed their stone into a spiral formation which represents our community’s ongoing support to reconciliation.

Reconciliation Week Assembly// Today we listened as Grace and Allira told us about what reconciliation means for our Indigenous people. They reminded us that reconciliation is about looking truthfully at the past and acknowledging and listening to the pain that was caused to our elders, and understanding the ripple effect it has in First Nations communities.

National Sorry Day// Yesterday our student leaders Allira, Zara, Alex, Mathilde, N'deye and Emily joined with the community to say sorry at the Benarrawa Sorry Day Ceremony in Sherwood. Listening to the strength, courage and truth-telling from our local Elders was a small way that we can support reconciliation.

Strategies for Success// Junction Park State School is offering parents the opportunity to attend a Parent Workshop run by Dolly's Dream "Parent in the Digital Age". Please book via SOBS using the following link or QR code:

Cereal Box Challenge// Our Student Council has decided to run a cereal box challenge as this term's student community support project. This is a way to collect cereal to donate to charities supporting disadvantaged students and homeless.
Before we donate the cereal boxes all our students will be having a whole lot of fun with them! The Student Council will be setting up a giant dominoes run down the A block stairs and across the netball court. There may even be some obstacles for the run to go around!
We already have 87 boxes .... help our Student Council to reach their target of 500 boxes by each student donating a box of cereal! The more boxes donated the bigger the dominoes run!

National Sorry Day// Sunday May 26 join us at the Benarrawa Community Development Association Sorry Day Ceremony to commit to reconciliation as part of the Junction Park State School Community.
