TODAY IS WORLD CONTRACEPTION DAY!

The theme this year is The Power of Options.

With the diversity of contraceptive options available today, as well as misinformation surrounding contraceptives online, itโ€™s never been a more important time for health professionals to be knowledgeable in this area, and use this knowledge to guide patients in making their own decisions about contraception.

Contraceptive access still needs improving on a global scale. World Contraception Day aims to raise awareness and spread the word to advocate for more universal and equitable contraceptive access.

AMSA S*xual and Reprodictive Health is proud to be promoting the Care and Connect program run by the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBMPHN). During our s*x & well-being week of S*xual Health September, this seminar will be an incredible learning opportunity. Read more below!

Overview:
We know that those who study and work within healthcare have an important role to play in addressing domestic and family violence (DFV) in our community. Research says they are often the first point of contact for victim survivors due to physical injuries and mental health issues resulting from the violence.
Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBMPHN) is offering AMSA students a unique opportunity to learn more about the prevalence of DFV: identify some of the signs; how to respond to those experiencing or at risk of domestic and family violence and learn what referral pathways are available. The session will allow for questions and will also discuss a case study.
This session has similar content to what is currently being delivered to primary health care providers within the Nepean Blue Mountains which includes, GPs and Allied Health providers

Date/Time: Tuesday 19th September 6pm โ€“ 7.30pm
Registration link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEpf-uvrTMvGtJb3SIB8Lj2qvX0BBS3kczB
Eligibility: Max 20 students

Additional Information:
In addition to receiving this session, students can also access a suite of 7 Self-study online modules on domestic & family violence in different settings e.g. CALD, male survivors, etc.
