AFL BOYS - DAY 3 Results
Game 7
U.S.E 4 def by Lower Eyre Peninsula 27
Best: Xavier Koch, Angus Kluska, Ernie Buckett, Jack McLeay.
The boys kicked against the wind to start off the final day's campaign.
Coming up against a strong and fast opposition, the team tried to stop the scoring but went into the break 4 goals behind.
They come out with more endeavour in the second half and found themselves first to the ball.
Jack M and Casey were creating plenty of chances up forward but we couldn’t get it between the big sticks.
We managed to keep them scoreless but could only add 3 minor scores despite all the chances at goal.
Game 8
U.S.E. 10 def by South West 21
Goal: Ernie Buckett.
Best: Will Bawden, Lachlan Virgin, Nosh Hillier, Austin Brodie.
The boys started with the wind and peppered the goals but it only resulted in 3 minor scores before Ernie burst through the pack and slotted a ‘checkie’ from the boundary, finishing the half 2 points up.
The team put in great effort during the second half with Austin providing some good options up forward.
We got caught standing behind our players too much but still battled through to fall short by 11 points in the end.
Game 9
U.S.E 1 def by East Adelaide 56
Best: Noah Hillier, Ernie Buckett, Emmett Phillips, Eddie Heffernan, Jack McLeay.
For the final game of the week the boys came up against a team that was very strong across the ground. The boys battled hard in the first half with Beau and Xavier leading the way laying plenty of big tackles. The boys did a great job of getting numbers to the ball but weren't able to get enough forward entries.
After regrouping at halftime the boys played more of a slow possession style of football with Noah, Lachlan and Jack S linking up in transition from defence.
Will and Eddie did a great job against the bigger boys winning some of the clearances allowing Parker to get it forward.
The boys walked off exhausted and had put everything they had into it. They can keep their heads held high.
After a great week with 4 wins and 5 losses, the boys finished 6th overall in Division 1. They improved throughout the 3 days and it was great to see them form mateship that will last for years.
Thank you to Wade Phillips for managing and all the parents, siblings and family members who helped out.

AFL BOYS - DAY 2 Results
Game 4.
U.S.E. 34 defeated Barossa Light 4
Goals: Casey Henderson, Jack Starling, Emmett Phillips, Angus Kluska and Frazier Brodie
Best: Frazier Brodie, Casey Henderson, Xavier Koch and Ernie Buckett
The boys started the first half quietly, taking a while to wake up after a big night at The Beachhouse. Both sides only managing 3 behinds each for the half.
The second half was played at a much higher tempo with our boys getting first use of the ball through perseverance led by Ernie.
Casey got front position and started the flurry of goals with a beautiful kick straight through the big sticks.
A comfortable win in the end against strong opposition, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
Game 5
U.S.E. 13 def by Gawler 29.
Goals: Frazier Brodie and Parker Wiese
Best: Ernie Buckett, Angus Norcock, Eddie Heffernan and Noah Hillier
The team came out determined against a very strong opposition who are undefeated. They held their own early, managing to snag the first goal.
Lachlan lead the way with some great contested ball wins pushing us into attack.
The second half was evenly contested with strong defensive efforts from Tommy and Angus N linking up with Eddie through the middle. Digby also looked dangerous in attack.
Boys played some great football and walked off with their heads held high.
Game 6
U.S.E. 41 defeated Southern Fleurieu 13.
Goals: Emmett Phillips 2, Beau Excell, Casey Henderson, Will Bawden and Ernie Buckett
Best: Will Bawden, Ernie Buckett, Parker Wiese and Emmett Phillips
The last game saw the boys fight through tired legs.
Some nice marks and true kicking in front of goals by Beau, Casey and Will, kicked off the game well.
Will moved into Ruck in the second half and together with Eddie they got some nice clearances.
Ernie flew high for everything and kicked a nice goal. Emmett pinching 2 for himself from the wing.
A big effort by all the boys to get over the line. Great to see them working hard for each other and forming bonds in the process.
We ended the day with a dip in the ocean in preparation for our final day!!!

AFL BOYS - DAY 1 RESULTS
Game 1
USE 21 def by Airport 46
Goals: Digby Wight, Parker Wiese, Casey Henderson.
Best: Beau Excell, Parker Wiese, Xavier Koch.
The boys started quickly with a goal to Digby to settle the nerves for the boys first game.
Airport then held the ball in their attacking half and our boys tackling efforts and defensive pressure kept them to rushed behinds which kept them in the game.
The second half saw a more free flowing type of football with the backline structure setting up well and creating scoring opportunities from defensive rebounds.
Parker snapped a nice goal in front of the sticks with Casey marking well to slot one through from a set shot.
Unfortunately Airport were too switched on for game 1 and the boys went down by 25.
Game 2
U.S.E 50 def Adelaide South East 8
Goals: Digby Wight 2, Angus Kluska, Will Bawden, Tommy Woosnam, Noah Hillier, Emmett Phillips.
Best: Xavier Koch, Noah Hillier, Digby Wight, Tommy Woosnam.
The boys jumped out of the gates after their dissapointing first game and got on the board straight away with an early goal from Angus Kluska.
Defensive pressure in the first half, led by Beau, created many opportunities resulting in more goals from Will and Tommy.
The second half saw the boys come out with great intensity on the ball, lead by Xavier who gave us first option from the contest.
A great rounded team game by all the boys resulted in a good win.
Game 3
U.S.E 56 def Onkaparinga South 7
Goals: Jack Starling 2, Ernie Buckett 2, Emmett Phillips, Beau Excell, Parker Wiese, Digby Wight.
Best: Parker Wiese, Jack Starling, Emmett Phillips.
The boys banded together well in the first half controlling the play with a team orientated style of football. Jack S took some great marks all around the ground.
The second half we maintained the team play with better defensive positioning behind the ball, which choked out Onka's offensive efforts. Parker led up the charge through the middle with Jack S and Frasier owning the forward 50.
The boys won comfortably and had an absolute ball sharing the ball around.
