Amazing day on the netball courts today at The Marist Netball Carnival at Homebush.

The girls stepped it up a notch playing the tournament favourites first up. Unfortunately we didn't come away with a win but showed our potential. This game set us up for our 5 game winning streak, including two convincing wins against teams that are sitting above us. Resulting in 4th position going into the finals tomorrow.

Congratulations to Athiana awarded the player of the day!

After much investigation, it was determined that Mr Robert Angeli was the culprit for the Year 7 Abandoned Experiment practical disaster!! Year 7 worked hard to determine who had caused the "damage" - through measuring footprints left at the scene and analysing the "contaminated" solution that was left at the scene.

Ms Bruniges' Year 11 PDHPE classes tested out how the body absorbs forces in some practical activities this week. Catching a raw egg and trapping a soccer ball were fun ways to reinforce their knowledge of biomechanical principles learnt in the unit "The Body In Motion".

Yesterday our Year 7 students participated in a Cultural, Creative Arts, and STEM Learning Day. The day provided students with a holistic and immersive educational experience that integrated various disciplines whilst highlighting our Year 7 Theme of Family (Belonging and Connectedness).

Through hands-on activities, interactive workshops, and engaging presentations, the students fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures (First Australians/Indigenous/Torres Strait Islander), creative arts (Music), and STEM fields. It sought to inspire curiosity, creativity, teamwork/connectedness and critical thinking skills among the students.

The day encouraged students to explore new ideas, perspectives, and ways of learning. Finally, as our Theme for Year 7 is FAMILY, the day promoted a sense of inclusivity, collaboration, and a passion for lifelong learning among Year 7 students.

St Francis Xavier’s College celebrated Catholic Schools Week by warmly inviting Year 7 parents into classrooms on Tuesday 21 May, offering a glimpse into their children's educational experiences and quite literally applying the diocesan Catholic Schools Week theme of ‘Follow Me!’.

Parents engaged with teachers and students, fostering a sense of community and collaboration. The morning concluded with a delightful morning tea, providing an opportunity for parents to connect in a relaxed setting.

This event not only celebrated the essence of Catholic education but also strengthened the bond between families and the school, emphasising the importance of a supportive and involved community in the students' academic and spiritual growth.
