With regret we advise that Emmanuel College and Josiah College campuses will be CLOSED tomorrow, Friday 4 March, including our Little e’s Kindergarten.

This difficult decision has been made entirely to ensure the safety of our students and staff. The QLD Government announced today that schools across the entire southeast region should only be open if it is safe to do so based on extreme weather forecast for tomorrow. Additionally, the College has sought expert advice on the flood risk in our area and based on this, we have decided to close the campus. As this closure is for safety reasons, there will be no staff or students on site tomorrow.

I assure you that this decision has not been made lightly. Whilst online learning will continue for students tomorrow, we are aware that this week has taken its toll on families and staff and have modified the learning program accordingly. Please visit Schoolbox to read about tomorrow's learning program:
https://schoolbox.emmanuel.qld.edu.au/news/26675

We will continue to keep those affected by the floods in our prayers and stay safe over the weekend. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with your relevant Head of School.
LATEST UPDATE - 1:30pm
Further to the earlier correspondence, you may have heard the Premier’s announcement about State Schools being closed tomorrow (except for children of Essential Workers) ahead of predicted adverse weather. We are seeking clarification around what impact this announcement will have on non-government schools. At this stage, we are open tomorrow and we will update later today if this changes.
As a precaution, all staff and students have been instructed to take home and materials required should we need to return to online learning.
ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT - 12:30pm
Please note that Emmanuel College will remain open as normal today, Thursday 3 March. The current weather warning exists for areas north of Moreton Bay only.
Rest assured that we will continue to monitor the Bureau’s advice and we will update families should this advice change and as always, our priority is the safety and wellbeing of our community.
We are pleased to advise that Emmanuel College and Josiah College campuses will be OPEN tomorrow, Wednesday 2 March, including our Little e’s Kindergarten. Thankfully, the water has subsided, and we’re looking forward to seeing smiling faces back on campus tomorrow. Thank you for your support and understanding over the past few days. What a wonderful community we have!
As things begin to return to normal, it is likely that traffic will be heavier than usual at drop-off and pickup times. We ask that you allow extra time for this, and we thank you for your patience.
Safety remains our priority, so our staff will brief students on any required adjustments to classes or break-times on their return to school. Extra-curricular and sporting activities will resume unless advised otherwise by the relevant departments.
We have notified the Department of Education to have the College removed from the list of closed schools. This may take some time to update so please do not be concerned if the Colleges remain listed on the site. The Colleges will be OPEN tomorrow, notwithstanding another unexpected weather event.
Please keep those affected by the floods in your prayers. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with your Head of School.
Emmanuel College and Josiah College campuses will be CLOSED on Tuesday 1 March, including our Little Es Kindergarten.

The campuses remain inaccessible due to road closures and there is a significant amount of standing water present. We understand that this will be disappointing for families, however safety remains our top priority and we require time to ensure the campus is clean and safe for students and staff to return.

Additional details will be provided via email for Josiah College students. See original Schoolbox post: https://schoolbox.emmanuel.qld.edu.au/news/26259

We are optimistic about a return to on-campus learning on Wednesday 2 March, however we will provide confirmation by 5:00pm Tuesday 1 March, via Schoolbox and social media channels.
We hope you are all safe and dry and we continue to pray for those affected by the recent flooding. Our campus is currently inaccessible, and we kindly ask that people stay away from the school today and avoid entering the floodwater, for safety reasons. The situation is being regularly assessed and information regarding tomorrow, Tuesday 1 March, will be provided by 7:00pm tonight via Schoolbox and our social media channels. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you require any assistance.
Following the Queensland Premier’s directive this afternoon, Emmanuel College and Josiah College will be CLOSED tomorrow, Monday 28 February. Please see Schoolbox for information regarding home learning.

This week started off with so much excitement as Josiah students in Years 8 and 9 headed out of the classroom and off to their first-ever adventure camp at CYC Burleigh.
Over the two days, students enjoyed a variety of fun outdoor activities including tubing, bodyboarding at the beach and giant stand-up paddle boarding. They also engaged in teamwork activities of building a raft together.
They all had a great time and created some incredible memories together!
