Why did the echidna cross the road?

May 23 is World Turtle Day and the Mary River Turtle has won the Whacky and Wonderful Turtle title for 2023!! If you’re lucky enough you might see one while on camp at Garapine Outdoor Education Centre.

🌟 Guess what turtle gang? We have our 2023 Whacky and Wonderful Turtle winner ❤

While all our turtle contestants received a lot of love from everyone, the Mary River Turtle had that extra bit of love and attention - crowning it our 2023 winner! We really appreciate all the likes, comments and shares.

Do you have an idea for our next turtle comp? Or do you have a turtle species that you would like to learn more about? We would love to hear from you! Reach out to us at [email protected]

Happy World Turtle Day to all the wonderful people out there doing amazing things for our freshwater turtles 🐢❤

The mighty Mary River is ready for all of our Term 2 campers!
See you soon for adventure, challenge and resilience building.

Goodnight campers. Get some sleep, it’s going to be a big day tomorrow. See you in the morning!

Happy First Day of School!

You can't always rely on Siri. Map reading is an essential skill and orienteering makes it so much fun!

Plus it supports personal and community health and wellbeing and creates connections to the natural and built environment. Definitely worth including in your camp program!

We've had some great feedback this year. It's super important to us that we are delivering a quality experience that meets students needs and continue to improve. Big shout out to our amazing staff who do an exceptional job delivering real outcomes for students! 🙌

Lunar eclipse: How and when to watch blood moon in Australia 08/11/2022

Star gazing will definitely be on tonight's list of activities!

Partial eclipse begins just after 7pm and totality is at 8.16pm (Brisbane time).

Lunar eclipse: How and when to watch blood moon in Australia A lunar eclipse is when the Sun, the Earth and the Moon align allowing the Moon to pass through the shadow cast by the Earth.

Koala sighting at Giant Swing this morning! We heard the grunting, looked up and there it was 🐨

Thank you to all the wonderful teachers that value outdoor education and the camp experience. We appreciate everything you do (especially while on camp!)

Students can gain the skills and knowledge required for future camping expeditions or just experience challenge, responsibility and resilience.

Thanks Year 5 and Year 6 and their wonderful teachers, we had a blast too! Awesome photos! 📸

Thanks for an awesome week of camp! Coming for 5 days is really special and so worth it. Just as special as this little gift we all received from a very thoughtful student.

To celebrate Garapine's 30 years, we would love to hear about your Garapine school camp memories. Dig out the old photos, let's reminisce! Please share your Garapine camp photo or memory with us...

It's what we do... moving students outside their comfort zone, into their stretch zone to see what they can discover.

Everything we value in life (such as health, fairness, freedom, the economy, the environment or anything else) matters because it contributes to the wellbeing of current and future generations, We want to build a world where happiness is at the heart of everything we do as individuals, communities, organisations and governments.

Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day 🌤

Join us for and discover actions to help you find more joy, even in difficult times

Did you know we run a “Canberra themed” camp right here in Queensland?

When COVID first hit and we couldn’t travel interstate, we designed a program to incorporate federation, democracy and hands on STEM activities like at Questacon.

If you were hopeful for Canberra this year but are now rethinking that plan, then let us help you get sorted. Contact us to find out more.

Short Breaks Help Students—and Teachers—Find Their Calm 09/02/2022

"Walking while observing colours or sounds, sitting under a tree, and looking for four-leafed clovers are perfect nature pauses."

Short Breaks Help Students—and Teachers—Find Their Calm Simple, quick exercises improve mindfulness, self-regulation, and well-being, for both students and teachers.

Happy first day back at school! A little inspiration to be our best and help others. We can all be great leaders for our school.

Which emoji best describes how you feel about the start of school next week?? 🥳🤩😬🤯🤔😀 😷 Let us know in the comments!
After a long summer holiday there’s no doubt that many students will need a hand to get out of their comfort zones, to learn and grow.

When the time comes for camps, we will be ready and waiting (with masks on) to once again provide exceptional experiences for students.

Here’s a snapshot of what we are doing to provide COVID safe camps. Best wishes for a great start to the school year next week! 🤩

A big day of and to oil the decks.

Kayaks are ready to roll for the year! Looking forward to school camp adventures on the Mary River!

End of year craft ideas from Nature Play QLD.
Cut a wreath from cardboard then collect items from the garden to decorate. Or make stick decorations and tie together in a star or tree shape before decorating. Why not buddy up senior and junior students to do it together.

Take a sneak peak at the Gympie Gold Museum just 15 minutes up the road. Combine a museum tour with our Gold Colonial Australia camp program perfect for Year 5 in 2022. Good as gold!

👋GOODBYE!! It's always sad to see our campers leave. They have grown up a bit, conquered their own challenges and created memories for us all.

Winners of our Finska competition! Mountain Creek State School will be enjoying games of Finska at their Chappy Breakfasts. We hope you enjoy it!
