Dear teachers,
You are loved and appreciated for all you do. You changed my life by never giving up on me, showing me that there are people who care, even when I pushed you away.
It may not have seemed like it at the time, but now that I am older, it’s your teachings that have kept me alive and well.
Love,
Those ratbag students who are now adults ❤️

How do YOU teach children to be good friends? Particularly to those, that through disabilities, anxieties or trauma, struggle to connect with other children.
My method is to always have open conversations about WHAT a child could be going through. WHY a child might act in a certain way. Then HOW you can make a difference. Noting that some days for a child would be easier than others.
What are your methods?

Let’s hear them 🤓
THE STROOP EFFECT 🤓
1st read the word, not the colour. (Time yourself)
2nd read the colour, not the word. (Time yourself)
Did you find it harder and that it took effort to read the colour and not the word?
Studies have shown that the struggle through reading the colour, is likened to that of people with dyslexia trying to read words.

Thanks mum,
Love you ❤️

Great graphic for science & HASS lessons.
When we talk about “leave the leaves” what does that do? 🍂
Each community paves the way for the next to thrive, creating a chain reaction of habitat adaptation. 🦠🍃 Leaf litter and humus layer boost sandy soil regeneration.
Consider this when planning your landscaping and before cleaning those garden beds.

Sure students can count money, but do they understand how it works? Can they save money or are they completely impulsive and spend as soon as they earn?

Or when a leader randomly brings a new student to the class without warning and is like
“Hey, so this is ___ and s/he will be starting in your class tomorrow. Come and say hello!” 🥲🥲🥲
Our profession can often bring us down. It is important that we as educators learn how to “hack” our own happiness chemicals.
We can also bring a lot of these into the classroom to help “hack” student happiness chemicals 😉
Stress levels so high that you’re counting down each day to the school holidays?

A very powerful visual of “good learning” from the perspective neurotypical and neurodivergent children.

Found this great resource to give to your students regarding AI use 🤓
Sometimes, all a child needs is a good role model to learn from 🤓

“Whatever education is, it should make you a unique individual.” 🤓
Act as a “teacher” 🤓
Not directly teacher focussed, but can say the AI can be used positively in the classroom.
What have you used AI for? Has it helped? Anything to be wary of?
Let’s have a friendly conversation regarding this by the Australian Education Union.
As a male teacher, this personally touched a nerve.
77% of school sector employees are women and ONLY 65% of principals are women.
Good male teachers are adored by so many students, as are good female teachers. Many of my past students often tell me how I am their first ever male teacher, and how it was their best and most favoured year of school.
So many students benefit from having a good male role model as a teacher and as a mentor. Yet only 23% of school sectors employees are male?
Perhaps the Union should divert their attention to gender balancing the school sector? I will add that I have heard good reports on the Union ensuring male (and female) teachers are safe from bogus claims.
In regards to principal gender, I have both thrived and been demoralised by both genders.
At what point are people appointed on skill over gender?
I’ve had my yarn. I’m open to hear other perspectives. Let’s keep it friendly 🤓
How are your classrooms going?
If they’re anything like mine, the little rascals have become comfortable with their new surrounding, meaning the noise volume has risen. 🙉
Here are some methods that I implement to help manage the volume.

The attention span of students seem to be getting worse by the year. So how do you keep them focused and engaged?
One method: deliberate mistakes!

A study by the ABS shows that during a normal school term, teachers work above the Australian average pulling 45+ hours a week.
