The little-known dark side of how surfboards are made They were once built with timber, but these days surfboards are made from toxic, non-biodegradable petrochemical products that belie the sport's idyllic images of humans interacting with the forces of nature.

Finding the unexpected memories whilst going through my day at the workshop.
We are very blessed having all these machines to assist us in our woodworks. However, when the table saw is in use, always safety first!
One of my students, Annette, made these very cleverly designed wooden bread tongs. A very effective tool and even has a magnet in the top to keep the tongs on the toaster. I believe it was such a success that her friends were wanting some as well! Great to see wonderful woodwork creations at the School of Fine Woodwork.
A little throwback. This little ferris wheel was a gift from my wife I got a very long time ago. It was a fun source of inspiration for me when I decided to do the London Eye wooden sculpture and thought it'd be nice to share with you all.
The care and passion should start from the beginning right to the end.
I was asked recently, if there was one thing I would do naturally, what would it be. And that is teaching woodwork to my students. I've seen some remarkable skill development amongst individuals and also pure enjoyment. The workshop for most of our students is simply a place to meet others, retreat and work on their own little projects. I thoroughly enjoy their company and it gives me great pleasure to see students socialise and create their woodwork pieces that they've set out to do.
