What is a bee hotel ?
๐
โ A bee hotel is a structure you stick in your garden, with the idea that it gives native solitary bees a place to next, rest and breedโ - ABC Every Day
๐ฟ
During our recent bee project we installed a bee hotel in our lemon tree in the yard.
๐
One of our families had their own beehive and collect honey from the comb.
๐ฏ
The children and educators were able to further explore the process of honey being made and sample it on our yogurt for afternoon tea.๐

Our centre was proud to contribute to Snacktember this past month.
๐ฟ๐ช๐๐ฏ
This is a remarkable charity initiative for local community organisations to collect food products and Snacktember then forward it on to Australianโs seeking food relief.
Thank you to our families who generously donated.

Which types of birds do you see in your yard/home?
We have been very excited watching our bird project evolve and discovering more types of birds visiting our yard.
Later in the year we will explore the Aussie Backyard Bird Count to record our findings.

We were excited to see one of our parents Julia Baker reading Family Tree for National Simultaneous Story Time on Twinkl Australia Early Years.

This has been a valuable resource for Early Childhood Education as it explores different aspects of ANZAC day and represents a variety of Defence Families.๐ฟ
ANZAC Day For Kids | What Will I See On ANZAC Day? | Learn About ANZAC Day At Story Time With Ozzie Discover all the different things you will see on ANZAC Day in this great book read by Ozzie at Story Time.A book especially written for early childhood educ...

It is wonderful to see ANZAC commemorations taking place this year.๐ฟ
Please bring your children to ANZAC Day commemorationโs tomorrow- hereโs why you should.
A Veteran recently wrote a very powerful post as to why itโs important and should be encouraged:
โIt's recently come to my attention that some parents although they would like to attend a dawn service, wont because of the likelihood that their little ones may make noise or fidget during the minutes silence and cause embarrassment or offend someone.
Let me tell you as a returned service veteran of 2 tours of Afghanistan, that when I close my eyes during that minutes silence it's the cries of the little ones in the crowd that make it so special to me. It's the reason why myself and so many of my fellow veterans & ultimately our fallen heroes gave their time, service & lives for. Their families. Their countrymen.
To not hear the babies/children's voices and cries and the tutts from their mothers and fathers during this special occasion would not be, and never has been an offence to myself or anyone I know.
How will we Remember Them if the little ones aren't there to carry the memory?
So, this ANZAC Day please bring your little ones.
Bring them that they may see the men & woman with their fathers, mothers, uncles, aunties, brothers, sisters and even their own medals worn proudly on their chests. So that they hear the stories told of long ago battles & heroic deeds. So that they will remember and carry on their stories to their own children's children.โ David Wilson.
I couldnโt have said it better myself โค๏ธ

CHILDREN ARE CONNECTED TO AND CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR WORLD
๐ง๐ฆโโ๏ธ
All the wet weather has provided opportunity for children to splash in puddles and use play to investigate, project and explore new ideas in their natural and constructed environments.
๐ฆ๐ง๐ฆ๐ง
Have you jumped in a puddle recently?

We have been engaging in a local Playground project for Parks Week.
Unfortunately they have been closed this week and we have had to reschedule our excursion.
Hoping they will be re-open and safe for families to enjoy again soon.

6pm 18 March 2022: Playgrounds are officially open again! Please note that the team may not have removed tape and signage from all sites.
๐ข In the interests of public safety, all Council-maintained playgrounds within the Sutherland Shire will be closed until further notice.
With the continued heavy rainfall, there is an increased risk of unstable ground and tree failure. Arborists engaged by Council have commenced a comprehensive assessment of the health and stability of trees near our playgrounds.
We will tape off areas and carry out inspections of high-risk trees that are immediately surrounding park areas.
Trees and branches that are deemed to be at risk will be safely removed as soon as weather conditions allow.
We ask you to please stay away from parks while heavy rainfall persists, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to our parks and playgrounds as soon as it is safe to do so.
โ ๏ธWe ask all members of the community to be vigilant in any outdoor spaces while the heavy rain persists. There may be localised flooding, and this is particularly dangerous around stormwater drains โ please keep children well clear of these areas!

During Our recent ocean Investigation Project we researched information on โBlue Dragonsโ as there were many sited at Cronulla Beach.
๐๐
These tiny creatures do sting and hurt if you touch them and can change colour depending on what they eat from.
๐๐ฆ
Here the children decorated their own sea creatures and referenced books for inspiration in choosing their colours.
What have you discovered at the Beach before?
๐ณ๐ ๐ก
