Due to the recent flooding within our local community, far and wide, our educators and families have come together to support those affected.
Our Bambinos families and educators have generously donated many long life food items, household items and clothing. It was so great to know that we are surrounded by a community of people who are willing to help out those in desperate need. We donated our items to a local organisation called “Big Yellow Umbrella” who create hampers that are sent to those in need. We are so thankful for our amazing families, here at Bambinos Kindergarten Harrington Park.

Every day, our Teachers and Educators work to create a more gender equal world; one that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive and where difference is values and celebrated.

Within our centres, we have a community of predominantly female team members. Women lead and inspire at all levels of our organisation and hold a majority of our executive and board positions. We are so proud that children of all ages and genders can be inspired by our diverse role models.

On this International Women’s Day, we say thanks to our Teachers and Educators. Collectively we can and will , today and for future generations.

The children of the Starfish and Baby Owls rooms at Fairwater have recently enjoyed exploring our current project of Role Play where they are encouraged to explore imagination, communication (through verbal and non verbal communication), social interaction, transference of skills from a variety of contexts and exploring identity.

We loved exploring vets, doctors, construction, and administration inspired by family careers and input. The room was set up with themed posters and signs, toys inspired by the role theme and group times with stories relating to the topic. The children showed genuine care and love for the babies and animals as their patients, immersed them self with costumes to add to their interaction and were able to work independently and in small groups to extend on their play. 🤗

Extending on children’s interest of building volcanoes and mountains in the sandpit at Bambino's Kindergarten Fairwater, educators provided loose part blocks and pictures of different famous natural and man made landmarks. The children worked independently and also in small groups as they used the items available to their create their own interpretations of the places demonstrating problem solving, reasoning and language skills as they negotiated and explained their ideas with others.

Throwback to Halloween celebrations at Bambino's Kindergarten Fairwater! Throughout the week we engaged in research experiences where we looked into the origins of Halloween as well as engaging in a variety of different play and learning experiences. Our friends aided us in planning these activities this week as they chose the art experiences we engaged in, dancing, cognitive thinking games such as a scavenger hunt as well as having a dress up party! 🎃

The Angelfish children at Bambino's Kindergarten Fairwater are enjoying STEM activities as a group project this term. This week, they engaged in a scientific experiment which involved using salt on ice to create a reaction. The children were assisted by their educators who helped them engage in the experiment in a hands-on way. They sprinkled the salt over the ice and operated droppers to add food colouring. The colour highlighted the grooves made in the ice by the salt as it burned through. The children explored a variety of scientific concepts and thinking strategies as the engaged in this stimulating experiment.

The health and safety of our children, families, team members, and communities remain our highest priority, which is why we are introducing a COVID-19 vaccination policy to reduce the risk of COVID-19. By reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection
and transmission in centres and support offices, we are better able to remain open and continue to provide early learning and care services to support our children,
families and team members. By 31 January 2022, all G8 Education team members, suppliers and contractors attending our centres and support offices, will be fully vaccinated or have an approved medical exemption.

The children in the Lilly Pilly room at Bambinos Harrington Park North have expressed such a strong interest in creative arts lately! Following on from this their educators decided it would be a lovely idea for the children to host their very own art exhibition.
The children were inspired by various artists included Monet, Van Gough and even Picasso! We created our own interpretation of their work and held our art show for their families to all see for themselves. We even encouraged purchases of their art like the real artists they are. This money was then used to donate to the Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation ❤️

In the Dragonfly room at Bambino's Kindergarten Fairwater, we have been exploring patterns. Our educators have been demonstrating and modelling patterns with children and identifying patterns in their play as well. When we first started exploring patterns, one of the children explained to us that a pattern is something that repeats. Building on this knowledge, we used coloured counters and links to create our own patterns. The children have now added the word pattern to their vocabulary using it to describe their play: “Come and see my pattern” and “I have lots of colours in my pattern!”. The Dragonfly children have also started transferring their knowledge of patterns into other areas of their play, such as drawing.
Patterns are an essential mathematical skill to develop as many math concepts are based on them such as times tables, addition and skip-counting. Patterns help children make predictions because they begin to understand what comes next. They also help children learn how to make logical connections and use reasoning skills. Patterns can be found everywhere in our daily lives!

Over the past few weeks, Bambinos Harrington Park Clontarf Ave educators collaborated with one another and came up with the idea of a Street Library. The concept of a 'Street Library' is to enable families in our community to come together and borrow out a book.
Our educator, Ms Sarah, has been busy working hard on creating our very own Bambinos Library. With recycled pallet wood, Ms Sarah put together her handy work and created this for our service. We can't wait to share stories with one another and we hope you enjoy the books we have shared with you.
Happy Reading! 📚

Over the past few weeks, the children of the nursery at Bambino's Fairwater have enjoyed exploring their sensory side and engaging in a variety of activities which aim to intrigue, challenge and support sensory skills and processing.

Educators created activities which incorporated physical learning, creative exploration and fine motor skills to include and cater for abilities and sizes. Children painted with rolling pins and leaves, used sticks as paintbrushes and balloons for paint splashing. Children also enjoyed tweezers with Pom poms, magnetic pipes and balls, water play with oranges and bubble wrap dancing for their textures and reactions.

Our sensory activities incorporated visual, audial and textural learning, supported fine and gross motor skills, introduced the children to new concepts such as water play and encouraged small group and individual exploration.

With a lot of our families keeping their children home with the current COVID lockdown orders, we have been using email to encourage our families to engage with similar experiences at home that we are doing in the Dragonflies room at Bambino's Kindergarten Fairwater.

We have been focusing on developing children's scissor skills and engaging in various science experiments to develop curiosity, reasoning, problem solving and investigation skills.

At Bambino's Fairwater, our philosophy centres around the belief that 'it takes a village to raise a child' and we value and recognise the part our families play in their children's learning and development, especially during these difficult times!

Throwback to Science Week at Bambino's Kindergarten Fairwater! As part of the week, we did multiple Science experiments for the children to enjoy, starting off with a 'Walking Water' experiment where the children observed coloured water moving through a paper towel.

Our Skittles experiment allowed the children to observe a reaction as the water dissolved the colouring in the shell of the Skittles creating a rainbow effect, and fine motor skills were also involved as the children placed the Skittles around their own individual plate.

The children also experimented with ice and water colour. They painted the colour onto the ice and watched as they blended together making patterns and new colours!

Outdoors, the children experienced a chemical reaction as they observed volcano eruptions in the sandpit with bicarb soda and vinegar. These experiments also allowed the children to engage with colours which was fantastic as our term project is all about colour!

During lockdown, we have all been affected by these difficult times and here in the Dolphins room at Bambino's Kindergarten Fairwater, we have been missing our friends and families who are currently staying home.

Over the last few weeks we have had the pleasure of sharing some family input containing information about the children’s interests while at home. This input has been an effective and fun way for the children returning to transition back into the school routine while also allowing us to include the children at home into our programs and fun experiences.

Some of the interests the children have demonstrated particular enthusiasm for have included creating a car wash out of recycled materials and exploring fairies through fairy gardens.

Moving forward we will be continuing to explore our interests from home. One of our most recent home interests we will be exploring will be making monsters using recycled materials. This experience will also extend on our past experience of using recycled materials to create our car wash and together we will discuss the importance and benefits of recycling
