If your child is sick and not at school it's common sense to keep their siblings at home too and get tested... No point in keeping one child home and letting the others go to schoom, what is the point of that. Use common sense....

Maths @ Marymede - discovering Cubetto robots and the fun of coding

[11/03/20]   As the Catholic Church has honoured Saints and Souls over the weekend, our Community Mass this morning id dedicated to those in our community who have gone to God. If you are joining us, please write the name of a loved one you would like remembered in the comments of the live event. Eternal rest grant unto to them O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon then. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God Rest in Peace.

The Year 12s went to a huge effort for the highly anticipated Costume Parade. We were pleased to be able to live stream the parade to our classrooms and into the homes of the Year 12 students.

Here is the link to the recording of the Costume Parade.
https://youtu.be/iNmVWy29BVY

Our Year 12s have had some great days at school this week. Yesterday was their last full day with uniform signing and House farewells taking place. Today they returned for a final morning, celebrating with breakfast together prior to the much anticipated Costume Parade.

We are proud of the way the Class of 2020 has risen to the challenges of the year and wish them all the best.

There's maths everywhere!

Angles, coordinates, quantities, shapes, lengths, weights, distance and codes.

Our primary students have been involved in maths challenges involving counting, finding shapes, measuring and coding to name a few.

Today is Maths @Marymede Day in our primary school.

Already the year Prep-2 students have begun thinking about the Jellybean Challenge using estimation. All students in Prep – 2 will have chance to put in their estimate of the jellybeans in the jar by Friday. There will be a prize in each class of a Maths Through Stories book with winners announced on Wednesday, 4 November.

Estimation in maths is more than a guess. Benchmarking to tens and hundreds is useful to develop in our students to help with estimation. Estimation is a life skill that helps us to think about the money we might spend, the size of a crowd, the number of chairs that will fit in a space. It does not give us an exact number, but it helps us to think about the world around us.

I wonder what you would guess for the number of jellybeans in the jar?

Reminder - tomorrow (Friday 23 October) is a student free day (Thank you day public holiday).

It seems we have some Tigers fans celebrating early!

Best wishes to the Cats and Tigers supporters for the AFL Grand Final this weekend.

Looking forward to our whole student community being back on campus on Monday.

Even our staff are in the spirit of Book Week costumes!

David Broadbent (DP Staff and Operations) and Jessica Hall (DP Teaching and Learning) were in character today as Arthur Dent from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (by Douglas Adams), and Gangsta Granny (by David Wallace).

Today is Book Week Parade Day!

We have some curious characters in our classes today. Fantastic Mr Fox, The Grinch, Harry Potter, Where's Wally? and Thing 1 to name a few.

The Primary Students are having a wonderful time parading on the 'catwalk' celebrating characters from books. Well done on the effort put into costumes!

A video edit of the parade will be shared with families next week.

It's Book Week!

Our primary students are having lots of fun celebrating all things 'books'. Today at lunchtime we had story-time in a number of locations around the primary school.

And a big reminder that tomorrow is the Book Week Costume day, with our COVID safe parade, class by class.

We can't wait to see what book character the children come dressed as.
