As Xavier enters your building for one last time...

Dear Goodstart Mooroolbark Team,

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to you all for your patience, hard work, and dedication; and for being passionate about early childhood education. Thank you for making it easy and fun for Xavier to learn basic skills which he will be able to expand on at school. Thank you for giving Xavier a sense of belonging in the classroom and for encouraging him to be an independent individual.

We are thrilled about the wonderful training and quality care Xavier received since he was six weeks of age. He’s always excited when sitting in the car on the way home where he talks about his day, amazing teachers and friends. Thanks for setting our mind at ease while we are at work, and thank you for everything that you do for Xavier each and every day. You’re one in a million!

Most importantly, you have become part of our family.

Many thanks,
Nick & Bec Jacovou

To begin the celebration of Reconciliation week the Pre-Kinder children discussed the Aboriginal Flag. Supporting the children to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of what the parts of the flag mean.

They had some great answers and understandings of the significance of the colours of the flags.
We extended on their knowledge by creating paintings of the Aboriginal flag. Here are their masterpieces.

Parents often ask, when will their child will be ready to start kindergarten or school? The transition from home, to early childhood education and onto school are important milestones for both children and their families. So what are the differences between home, kindergarten and school and how can we support our child to be ready? The Yarra Ranges Council Preschool Field Officers, Helen and Jo have put together a series of short webinars to answer all of these questions.

Goodstart Early Learning Mooroolbark - Pirate Day 2021

On Monday the 17th of May we will be having a PIRATE DRESS UP DAY.
We are fundraising for Pirate Day because we want to help turn the tide on kids' brain cancer. More children in Australia die of brain cancer than any other disease and treatments can result in substantial and permanent side effects. Every dollar counts, so let's make childhood brain cancer walk the plank!
We invite our families to bring a gold coin donation on the day or donate directly to the fundraising page below 🙂

On Sunday it is ANZAC Day so in our kinder room the Kinder Teacher and Educators intentionally planned to focus their learning around this important day. One of the experiences set up for the day was a Poppy making creative arts experience, where children could sit down and create their own Poppy’s with a variety of art resources.

To all our families, please stay safe this afternoon during the predicted storm and heavy rainfall.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a road weather alert for dangerous driving conditions due to expected heavy rain across Victoria today.

Bad weather should prompt you to slow down and use extreme care.
Conditions can change quickly. Be vigilant at all times. Avoid travelling during storms if possible.

If you must be on the road, ensure you leave extra space between you and the car in front, as braking distances significantly increase in wet conditions.

Be sure to turn headlights on and be extra vigilant for cyclists and motorbikes which are harder to see.
If the rain becomes too heavy for wipers to cope, pull over safely and wait for the rain to pass.

Don't walk, ride or drive through flood water.

Should you encounter fallen power lines, stay well clear and immediately call Triple Zero.

Make sure loads are secure, particularly on elevated roadways. Pay attention to overhead signage as speeds are reduced as winds increase.

The latest public transport information and network status is available at ptv.vic.gov.au or in the PTV mobile app. Real-time traffic conditions are available at traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au or via the VicTraffic mobile app.

To celebrate 90 years of the Good Friday Appeal, in 2021, Virtual R4K looks a little different.

In the spirit of the very first sports carnival back in 1931 which evolved to become the modern day Good Friday Appeal, and to encourage EVERYONE to get involved in supporting the 2021 Appeal, we’ve opened Virtual R4K up to include all activities.

All we’re asking is for entrants to allocate 90 minutes of movement, between March 28-April 2, 2021 to raise money for the 2021 Good Friday Appeal.
