On Friday 30/04/2021 the children of the Nursery and Toddler 2 room ventured out into the community.

We packed our bags, applied our sunscreen, grabbed our hats and began our walk to the police station.

During our walk the children took the opportunity to look around and explore their surroundings. While the Toddler 2 children expressed what they saw, the Nursery where happy to sit in their prams and watch on.

We were lucky enough to get a tour of the station.

The children were super excited when the Senior Constable asked the children if they wanted to see the inside of a police car.

While the Toddler 2 children sat inside the car and got to experience pressing the buttons, the Nursery children decided to watch the lights and hear the sirens while in the company of the educators.

Once the car tour was over, the Senior Constable gave the children the opportunity to wear an offical police hat.

We ended the tour by surprising the officers with a special card we made in memory of the 1 year anniversary of the police lives lost, along with some donut treats for them to enjoy.

We would like to thank Private Gutterres for coming in to teach us about Anzac day and celebrate it with us. The children were all excited to be able to share this day with Private Gutterres and enjoyed having conversations with him about what he does in the Army.

Good Afternoon Families,

I would like to introduce you to Tennille.

Tennille is a very generous lady who has donated a turtle tank to the centre.

She took time out of her day to come in and set up the tank and teach two of the educators basic care for our new pet turtle Tink.

Tink has been with Tennille for five years now, Tink enjoys exploring through her rocks and observing her surroundings from her port (which is located above the water in her tank).

Tennille has instilled her trust in the kinders and allowed us to bring Tink into our centre, which she will now call home.

We would just like to say a huge thank you to Tennille for not only being so generous in this donation but also trusting us to care for Tink.

We are excited to surprise the children with our new kinder pet.

Today the Centre conducted a bake sale to raise funds for an amazing cause, the Good Friday Appeal.

The Good Friday Appeal raises money to enable the Royal Children Hospital in Melbourne to provide children with world class medical care.

All the delicious baked goods were created by our amazing educators and children. We were able to raise just over $300 which will all be donated to the Good Friday Appeal.

We would like to thank all of the families for their generous donations and our educators and children for creating some yummy treats.

Friday the 26th of March, the team celebrated Epilepsy Awareness by asking staff and children to wear the colour purple.

Educators will be engaging the children in various experiences to raise awareness.

Did you know?

Epilepsy is a neurological condition (which means it affects the brain). It is also a physical condition because the body is affected when someone has a seizure.

Seizures used to be called ‘fits’ or ‘attacks’. Seizures happen when there is a sudden interruption in the way the brain normally works. In between seizures the brain functions normally.

There are over 40 different types of seizures.

Epilepsy statistics

1 in 20 people will have a one-off epileptic seizure at some point in their life.
1 in 50 people will have epilepsy at some time in their life (not everyone with epilepsy will have it for life).
Around 87 people are diagnosed with epilepsy everyday.
Up to 3% of people with epilepsy will be affected by flashing lights.

The children of the centre will now begin sprouting their very own discovery garden.

We’re all about community involvement! So let us know if there’s other organisations we can connect with.

Good Morning!

Welcome to Elfie’s weekly roundup.

Elfie wasted no time getting into mischief!

From disguising himself as the Christmas tree star to fishing in our centre fish tank, having no luck catching Teddy and Freddy he moved onto the Vegemite in our community pantry. After finishing all the Vegemite he decided to ride one of Santa’s reindeers, however he soon realised they need to rest up before their big Christmas delivery. So on Friday he settled for teaching a few of the animals about the importance of bath time.

I wonder what else Elfie has up his sleeves? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

11/12/2020

Good Morning Families!

As you all may know we have a community pantry located in our foyer (to the left) when you walk into the centre.

Along with the pantry we have now created ‘Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snack packs’. They have been packed with ingredients that can make mealtimes easy! Each pack has a serving size.

Please feel free to take from the pantry whatever you are in need of! You may also add to the pantry just be aware of expiry dates please.

Good morning!

I’d like to introduce you to Elfie, he’s come to visit our centre and arrived on December 1st.

He’s been getting into mischief during his visit, he’s eaten the fish food, he’s played with our alarm and he’s currently trying to redecorate with some glitter!

Keep an eye out, you may find him hiding elsewhere and getting into something else!

20/11/2020

Over the past couple of months, we have been working really hard to create our very own community garden. This garden will be accessible to our families and centre cook for fresh produce.

The community garden would not have been possible without the very generous support of All Greens Nursery & Garden located locally in Epping. They have played a vital part in this centre project.

This company has generously donated soil so that we can begin planting our fruit and veg. Thank you again to the staff at All Green Nursery and Garden for all your support.

Happy International Mens Day to our very own male educator Adam. We are so lucky to have Adam as part of our team. Adam is caring and supportive to all children, educators and families. #ourownstyle
