Thanks to Prime Minster Anthony Albanese and Minister for Skills and Training Andrew Giles MP for visiting our Croydon campus today to see the amazing work we're doing to teach the next generation of plumbers and carpenters.
We're excited to support the new Key Apprenticeship Program for trainees in housing construction and clean energy and are continuing to upgrade our facilities to give our students skills in sustainable practices, like connecting solar and hot water systems.
As one of only six dual-sectors universities nationwide, we're proud to offer opportunities for every learner to kickstart their careers or reskill for a tech-led future.

Sad, anxious or lacking in motivation? Chances are you have just returned to work after a summer break 😭💻
Swinburne psychologist Dr Kelvin Wong says that January is the month when people are most likely to quit their jobs after having had time off. But why do we feel return-to-work blues?
"Holidays often promote idealised expectations of life, such as the freedom and joy that comes from reduced responsibilities and expectations from others. Unsurprisingly, returning to work clashes with these expectations due to its inherent pressures and responsibilities."

Obesity is linked to many common diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease. It's currently defined using a person’s body mass index, or BMI. But the risk to health and wellbeing is not determined by weight – and therefore BMI – alone.
A team of experts including Swinburne's Professor John B Dixon has been working on how we should change that.
"The commission’s definition and new diagnostic criteria shifts the focus from BMI alone. It incorporates other measurements, such as waist circumference, to confirm an excess or unhealthy distribution of body fat."
