Graduation is always a magical moment to showcase the incredible skills and growth achieved throughout the term. During these graduations, Sempai Teresa shared some insights about how our movement fundamentals – like balance, strength, and coordination – are the secret weapons that level up our karate and prepare us for more advanced superhero training and curriculum! 💪⚡

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Christmas Party last weekend! It is always such a joy to catch up with our families, reflecting on this year and looking forward to the next. The kids had a great time doing the obstacle course, playing, and of course meeting our special visitor! ? !

Tecoma township celebrated its 100th anniversary this year, and we were thrilled to take part in the festivities alongside other community groups and clubs. We ran lots of superhero sessions that introduced local kids to the values of our school and the basics of our karate. It was lovely to see them giving karate a try with smiles on their faces! Congratulations on the celebrations, Belgrave and Tecoma Township Group 🎉

Congratulations to our six new black belts! Throughout their two-day grading, they each demonstrated exemplary strength, perseverance, excellence, and kindness to themselves and each other. The road to black belt is a long one, especially for some of these students who started with Paragon over a decade ago. All of them embody the superhero spirit and are excellent leaders both inside our community and out. We can't wait to see what they continue to achieve in their karate journey. Well done, Sempais! 🥋

Thank you to everyone who came to our Halloween party last week! It looked a bit different to our usual Halloweens held in the Supercentre, but it was no less magical. It was great to see everyone gather at Belgrave Lake Park for lots of different activities, prizes, picnics, and (of course) pushups! Thank you to our amazing Super Crew for all their hard work in setting up this fantastic Halloween ❤️👻

It's World Mental Health Day! Join us in smashing out 100 push-ups today to raise awareness for mental health, as part of a Push-Up Challenge mini challenge.

Any kind of exercise can have positive impacts on your mental health, so if push-ups aren't your thing, you can swap them for squats, sit-ups, or anything else that feels good for your body. Get moving with your friends, family, and classmates, and keep having conversations about mental health! Drop a photo/video of you doing your push-ups in the comments below, and feel free to share some things that help your mental health.

Graduations looked a little bit different this term!

While we await repairs at the Supercentre, last week's graduations were held at the Tecoma Uniting Church. Despite the challenges of training and graduating in a different space, all of our superheroes showed exemplary courage and resilience. We are so proud of how our students have shown their super throughout these changes!

We would also like to give a massive shout out to the Tecoma Uniting Church who have been fantastic in accommodating us and welcoming us into their space. We are very thankful to be a part of this wonderful hills community.

TEMPORARY RELOCATION OF CLASSES

Due to windstorm damage to our building, which may take some time to repair, we are relocating our classes temporarily, so that all our students can continue their Superhero training!

Starting from today (Monday 2/9), classes will be run from Tecoma Uniting Church. We will be using their Chapel Room, with slight variations to some class times. Tecoma Uniting Church is located at 1566 Burwood Hwy, right next door to Tecoma PS.

Today is our 26th Birthday!
Paragon was founded in 1998 by our Sensei Cameron, who was then just 20 years old. We know that he so believed in his vision that he of course would have imagined that Paragon would be thriving and creating superheroes over a quarter of a century later. He never could have imagined that he wouldn't also be here with us, but his legacy and presence is felt daily as he continues to have an impact on the lives even of people who never met him. What an honour it is to serve our Paragon community and families in his name.
We can't wait to celebrate with our families tomorrow night at our birthday party!

A group of our superheroes recently completed the Push-Up Challenge, run by The Push For Better Foundation to promote mental health education and fundraise for mental health support. The Push-Up Challenge involves doing 3,249 push-ups (for each person lost to su***de in 2022) with each daily target linked to a mental health fact. Our team of 22 managed a massive 45,000+ push-ups between them, and raised $550 for The Push For Better Foundation! Well done to everyone who took part. Thank you to those who joined us for the Lantern Parade last Saturday! It was a wonderful turnout and we marched proudly with our newly refurbished lantern. The kids behaved like superheroes all the way, and showed great stamina walking the whole parade up and back, beautifully representing our Superhero Karate School. Po also gave out many high fives and brought lots of joy to children and adults alike. We are so happy to be continuing this tradition!

To celebrate the Winter Solstice, we ran a day of Pyjama Classes! The morning was very cold and foggy, so it was the perfect day to come to class in PJs, Oodies, and dressing gowns. Everyone had a blast getting into the theme, and had fun being cozy while doing karate!

Congratulations to everyone who took part in our recent Paragon Karate Challenge!

The Karate Challenge is designed to help our students practice their confidence, resilience, and perseverance. They do this by completing the three challenges of sparring, performing kata, and board breaking. Each of these challenges is centred around collaboration and community, rather than competition.

All the students who participated did a fantastic job of challenging themselves, and truly earned their trophies! Well done to all our superheroes 🦸
