Our Early Childhood Education team had a couple of productive weeks with hands on activities.
Week one: the students learned how to may Playdoh and slime. Also during the class students were given resources to nurture the creativity in children and practice simultaneously to engage children in those learning experiences.
Week two: Student's acknowledged National Reconciliation Week.
A time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
We look forward to seeing our fully qualified students in the real world in the near future. Well done.

IMPORTANT

CORONAVIRUS ALERT for ITHEA students and staff

This notice is for the attention of all ITHEA students and Trainers who are concerned for their health. We want to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all and therefore are taking the following measures.

I wish to bring the following to the attention of all ITHEA students who are returning from overseas:

1. Those who have had contact with a confirmed case of Coronavirus are being urged to stay home and monitor for symptoms. In accordance with appropriate advice, any student who has been in contact with a person confirmed as having Coronavirus must not attend ITHEA for 14 days after the last contact with the infected person. Fourteen days, represents the internationally-recognised incubation period for this disease. After this time, the student is considered not to be at risk of infection.

2. Students who have travelled to the Wuhan and Hubei regions in China, during these past holidays, may return to ITHEA but should be carefully monitored for symptoms of Coronavirus infection. The most common symptom is a fever, while other symptoms include, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath. Anyone exhibiting these symptoms should be isolated immediately from other people and seek medical attention as soon as possible. Contact your GP or your emergency department or call the dedicated hotline on 1800 675 398. Please keep Triple Zero (000) for emergencies only.

3. If you have travelled to China and in particular, the Wuhan and Hubei regions in the past several weeks, you should contact your Medical Practitioner and request a Medical Certificate. This, in turn, should be handed to your Trainer in order to return to class.

You may get further information from the Victorian Department of Human Services dedicated website at https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/information-public-novel-coronavirus

Unfortunately, this is not the best way to start the new year. We will try to keep you updated as more information becomes available.

Regards,

Peter Jasonides
