Following on from our beautiful Mother's Day celebrations, where we enjoyed morning and afternoon tea together with our amazing Mums and Grandmothers. This week at Little Lane Manly, we as a centre have been celebrating National Families Week ❤️ This year the 2023 theme is ‘Living Real, Dreaming Big’. National Families Week celebrates families in all their diversity and promotes the importance of family resilience in creating strong, safe and connected communities. As well as appreciating all types of families through discussions and experiences in the rooms with the children, we have set up a wishing tree in our foyer, for the children and their families to share their hopes and dreams for their future ✨ Happy National Families Week! 💛

12 Days of Giving this Christmas with a Reverse Advent Calendar 🎄✨️ Little Lane Manly and our amazing families and staff participated in a charity event at the beginning of December, donating a box of food items to families in need at this time of year.
We were proud to contribute over 40 boxes to the 700 that were collected!

Celebrating the achievements of 2022 as a team ✨️🎄 The educators at Little Lane Manly have recently enjoyed our yearly Chistmas Party - delicious food, lots of laughs, dancing, team building games and singing karaoke! What a fantastic night had by all - it's great to have opportunities like these to bond as a team ❤🎅🎄🌟

Today we celebrated our amazing team of Educators and support staff for all of their hard work and dedication to the families and children at Little Lane Manly! The team enjoyed a lovely lunch and some special treats, but most important - some lovely feedback and appreciation from our families.

Here at Little Lane Manly we have had a busy month of July – The children have been engaged in a variety of meaningful play-based experiences related to our recent learning around projects and our calendar of events. This month we have celebrated NAIDOC Week – this year’s theme is Get Up, Stand Up, and Show Up. Across the centre we did some weaving, involved the children in learning about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through art, music and Storytelling as well as a centre Welcome to Country ceremony. Our Pre-school group has been learning about the ocean and how we can keep our planet and waterways clean, so we have been on excursions to our local Queenscliff beach, where we have been helping keep the beach environment clean and learning about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle as well as building our knowledge on water safety – we even had Lifeguard Jodie come and have a talk with the children! On Wednesday this week we all took part in Crazy Hair Day where we all came together to spread awareness and raise funds for the cystic fibrosis foundation, with both the educators and children taking part in creating some wacky hairstyles!
This month we have also celebrated our achievement of gaining our Exceeding Rating with Wellness Month for our amazing team of educators, with a scavenger hunt, special treats in the staff room, inspirational gifts and massages 😊

WE GOT EXCEEDING!
We are so proud to receive an Exceeding Rating during our recent Assessment and Rating visit in May. This is when the centre is Assessed across the 7 Quality Areas of National Quality Standards, these aim to promote the safety, health and wellbeing of children.
A focus on achieving outcomes for children through high-quality educational programs and families’ understanding of what distinguishes a quality service.
The seven quality areas covered by the National Quality Standard are:
1. Educational program and practice
2. Children’s health and safety
3. Physical environment
4. Staffing arrangements
5. Relationships with children
6. Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
7. Leadership and service management

Following this mornings Smoking Ceremony, Brendan spread the smoking ashes in our nature garden to cleanse the land on which Little Lane is standing and pay our respects for people past, present and emerging

Little Lane Manly experienced a traditional Smoking Ceremony today where the children participated in dance, traditional Dreamtime story telling and connecting to land ❤️🖤💛

What better way to promote ‘Healthy Eating’ than allowing our children to eat what they GROW?!

At Little Lane Manly, our children have been busy growing their own sweet corn in our secret garden! 🤫

Outdoor play and being engaged in activities in the fresh air with gentle sunlight such as gardening is an amazing activity for many people

But did you know that gardening can also have a great effect on the development of various skills and the promotion of a healthy body for children of all ages!

By getting involved in gardening, children have a chance to take care of their own vegetables and fruits. They will soon learn to love eating spinaches, pumpkins and even broccoli. As time passes by, the importance of healthy eating will, therefore, ripple throughout their lives.
