We hope all of our students preforming in WAGSMS at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre tonight have an amazing time.

The athletics season is well underway with most of our pre-carnival trials now complete.

Students in Years 1-6 have been competing during school hours to see who will represent each faction in the Jumps and Throws Carnival on the Monday of Week 9. We have also held running trials for Years PP to 6 to determine divisions for the main carnival on the Friday of Week 9. Please note that the 200m races will only feature Div A students on carnival day (those who finished in the top 2 in their faction). All students will run in the 50m and 100m races.

Jumps and Throws Carnival - Monday 11 September (Week 9)

This event is for students in Years 1 -6 and is a normal school day where students will leave class to compete, and then return to class after their event. Some students have qualified for one event, and some have qualified for both jumps and throws. If your child has qualified, a note will be sent home this week that will show which events they are in.

Parents are welcome to come along to cheer on their child. All events will be held on the school oval.

Jumps and Throws Schedule (times are approximate)

8:40 - 9:15 Year 1
9:15 - 10:00 Year 2
10:00 - 11:05 Year 3
11:40 - 12:05 Year 4
12:05 - 1:30 Year 5

During Science Week, our younger years followed instructions to make their awesome underwater fireworks. Different designs of planes with a straw as a fuselage were also investigated. Year 4,5 and 6 students delved into the VR world and had a fantastic time exploring. Some great activities were also completed in classrooms across the school, where students wondered, experimented and created.

Last term, more than 400 students took part in our NAIDOC Celebration Day. We've already shared some photos from our assembly, and now we want to show you what happened during our Moort Bidi - Family Track incursion. Our Cultural Committee organised a day dedicated to learning about the rich cultural and historical background of the local Aboriginal community, who are the guardians of Bindjareb boodja. Aboriginal people have a long-standing tradition of teaching and learning through sharing their deep connections to the land and sea, as well as their stories and experiences, which are passed down from generation to generation. We greatly value and respect the knowledge that Aboriginal children bring with them from their homes and communities into the classroom. During this special day, our students had the opportunity to learn about Gloria Kearing, a local Aboriginal Elder and artist, explore traditional Aboriginal foods and customs, and read stories from the wide range of books available in our library. Many of them said the kangaroo sausages were DELICIOUS!! We recommend Rumps Gourmet Butchery in Meadow Springs if you would like to give them a go at home!
