Every week, our students engage in a lunch time activity run by the Heads of Year.

Our activity this week was mindfulness colouring, which focuses on how we choose to apply colour to a pattern to bring our awareness to the present.

Students enjoyed a quiet space with dim lighting away from the hustle and bustle of lunch time. It was great to see friendships made between year levels with other students who had wanted a quiet space to study.

Lunch times can be a great time to practice mindfulness!

🏆 Success in Yesterday's Futsal Friendly! 🏆

Yesterday, Foxwell SSC Futsal players came together in a friendly game against Coomera Rivers State School on campus. By all reports, students had a great time honing their skills in a friendly competitive environment!

A huge congratulations to all players for their showcase of skills, teamwork and development in the game. Special shoutouts to our Futsal players, Tom and Bidhan, for their assistance officiating and Crusaders FC for providing prizes for MVP players.

These matches were not just about the enjoyment of the game, but also fostering a deeper interest of Futsal within our community and grow our proposed academy. In 2025, the FSSC Futsal Excellence Academy aims nurture the holistic development of student athletes and provide the skills to be successful at any level, from lifelong player to elite athlete.

Last week, some of our Year 11 students were invited to celebrate the graduation of Year 12 students at Coomera State Special School from the Skillsets for Successful Tenancies course run by the Tenancy Skills Institute.

All Year 11 students at Foxwell SSC will commence the full course during Anchor lessons in 2025. Funded by the State Government and recognised by REIQ, the program upskills young people in how to successfully secure and maintain rental properties in an ever-changing housing market, and develop skills such as communication, budgeting, and understanding rights and responsibilities.

Morning tea was prepared and served by the talented students at Coomera State Special school, whose barista skills we enjoy each week in our own Kaizen cafe.

Congratulations Coomera State Special School graduates of this course and thank you for hosting us!

We are excited to announce that this year's Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday, June 21st, 2024 - the last day of term!

This event will take place on school grounds from 8:45 AM to 2:45 PM and include competitive track and field events, games and novelty events for all skill levels. All students are required to wear their house colours, closed in shoes, appropriate and sun safe attire. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle, hat, and sunscreen and to bring lunch and plenty of snacks.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their athletic talents, engage in healthy competition, and enjoy a day of fun and sportsmanship with their peers. Students striving for Broadwater representation or age campion are encouraged to participate in the pre-Carnival events in week 9.

For further information or questions, please contact our sports coordinator, Mr. Croucher in H Block staffroom or [email protected]

This week, a group of our Year 11 Tourism and Hospitality students attended the Queensland Tourism Industry Council “Come ‘N’ Try” Roadshow.

During the event students got to participate in range of activities such as:
- an industry hub – networking with industry professionals,
- a cooking class with a former executive chef,
- a mixology class learning to how to create mocktails, and,
- a behind the scenes tour of CBUS stadium including catering, event set up, security and the teams’ rooms.

The biggest take away the group took from the day was the repeated consistently was about “attitude”, and how a positive attitude is their greatest asset in moving forward in this industry.

Today, Foxwell State Secondary College observes National Sorry Day, a day to remember and acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who were forcibly removed from their families.

We respectfully reflect on the sad and painful history of the Stolen Generation and recognise the resilience of these survivors.
