🌟 Our Free Kindy Information Night! 🌟

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our Kindy Information Night! It was wonderful to connect with parents and share insights into how Montessori supports children’s independence, confidence, and school readiness.

We covered everything from the Free Kindy subsidy to the way our Montessori classroom fosters a love of learning, setting children up for success in Prep and beyond. Each family also received a Prep Kit to help make the transition even smoother!

We’re so excited to welcome the Kindy class of 2025! 🎉 If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help.

This week at Wattle Montessori, we collaborated with our New Zealand and Maori families and all enjoyed acknowledging Waitangi Day by:
-Enjoying Maori music.
-Making korowai.
-Making poi and practising dancing with these.
-Making (and eating) delicious fry bread.

Our Banksia children also enjoyed visiting our friends at BlueCare and showing off their korowai and poi dancing to an admiring audience.

Hi families,

Here at Wattle Montessori, we feel passionately about helping young children to develop their early literacy skills and we are hoping to start a local 'swap library' specifically for 0-5 year old children. To do this, we first need to expand on our initial reserve of books. We've heard that some donation centres are currently not accepting books and just wondered, if you are doing a bit of a clear-out of your child's books post Christmas, could you please keep us in mind to donate to?

The 'swap library' will be open to anyone in our local community with children aged 0-5, no need to be attending our centre, and we're hoping to start by March at the latest. We look forward to reaching out about this soon 🥰

Would you like to learn more about how we support our kindergarten children to meet Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines and feel ready and prepared to start school? You are more than welcome to join our parent information session on Monday 20th January, 5.00PM, in our Banksia classroom. We hope to see you there 😀

The Australian Government has announced that the Free Kindy Program will continue into 2025! This is exciting news for families that are looking to get school-ready.

What we know so far:
✅ Eligible children can attend kindy for 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.
✅ Children born in early 2020 (January-June) or in 2021 are eligible for kindy, while those born later in 2019 and mid-to-late 2020 will start school in 2025.

If your child will be attending a centre for kindy in 2025 and you would like to know what your fees will look like after the free kindy hours are applied, reach out to us! We’re happy to provide a clear breakdown and answer any questions.

🎃👻 Trick or Treat! 👻🎃

Our Halloween celebrations were frightfully fun this year! We had spooktacular dress-ups from our children and staff, a special Halloween-themed menu (including toad salad, sand witches and bat cakes), face painting and themed sensory play!

We hope everyone enjoyed themselves today :)

Last week, our Daisies and Banksia classrooms had a special visit from the Keep Your Smile program! 🦷

The children had a fantastic time learning all about dental hygiene during an interactive group session and even received their own dental check-ups! 🪥😊

A big thank you to the Keep Your Smile team for helping our little ones understand the importance of healthy teeth and gums in a fun and engaging way! We’re thrilled to keep encouraging our kids to brush up on those healthy habits!

🌊🐠Our recent Ocean Life incursion brought the wonders of the sea to our playground. The children were thrilled to explore and learn about marine creatures, their habitats, and how we can help protect our oceans.

From touching sea urchins and turtles to discovering the hidden treasures of the deep, our little marine explorers were captivated by every moment. 🧑‍🔬✨ It was a hands-on experience that sparked curiosity and inspired a deeper appreciation for the amazing world beneath the waves.
