SUNSHINE COASTERS

Starting Mid-Sept will be running the first of many 8 Week Breath Enhancement Training Programs!

This program is to evolve and improve all the tools and skills taught in the Introductory Course, which must be completed first.

A little pre-season action with Gold Coast Suns. We consider Breath Enhancement Training as a key 'supplement' to all other coaching sessions. Whilst we may have started with full sessions focused on breath training, as the season progresses it is more something that is integrated into other training sessions.

Just like pro-athletes, execs work under considerable pressure and the stressors and expectations they face affect their bodies and minds in the same way. Unlike pro-athletes however, execs tend to be spending far too much time in states that are unhealthy, that diminish performance and hold them back from being their best selves.

Here we are working with the team who are taking their new physical & mental tools for a test run after first participating in an educational & interactive presentation. Many of the pool activities are used by the world champs we’ve worked with, discovering how to turn intensity or overwhelm in to calmness or clarity.

The heated pool option is extremely popular. If you and your team want to know how it feels to experience complete composure, relaxation and rejuvenation - hit us up!

Moments of Intensity vs Moments of Calm

Check that both are a part of your daily life & your training sessions.

BET will make sure you are increasing the range through which you operate by working on BOTH ends of the spectrum, intensity and calm - only then will you be able to handle challenges with greater skill.

As an example, if you are doing breath work for surfing & you want to increase your breath hold, are you truly making progress if your times are increasing but your mental composure isn’t? Take your time with it & grow both together.

“WHY WEREN’T WE TAUGHT THIS STUFF WHEN WE WERE YOUNGER?!”

We are asked this question so often by adults doing our courses as they sit back & wonder just how they may have coped differently with the challenges & pressures confronting them way back in their teenage & high school years.
Just think how different things could have been having knowledge and practices to help you manage & cope better as life started becoming a whole lot more complicated
. What stresses would have been lessened if you were able to apply those practices when facing exam time, when feeling pressure from peers, when competing in sports or academically, and when dealing with the triggers & expectations from the world of social media? What would be the impact on your physical or mental health, and your beliefs about yourself when facing difficult times?



We love being approached by schools that want to arm their students with life long learnings whether that be for their personal wellbeing or their sporting & academic excellence.

We can’t wait to start another pre-season with the where we’ll start by working on improving the ability of individual players to respond to & manage the expectations, pressures & challenges that each new season brings - which largely impacts the teams performance as a collective.

If you’re chasing consistency in your sport, make sure you are continually learning, growing and adding tools to your belt that help you to manage pressure better, to persevere through critical moments and to re-set & recover effectively week after week.

One area that stands out in the performance of the world class athletes and execs we work with is how they handle pressure both the mental & the physical.

BET workshops help to equip you with the knowledge & understanding of how to respond to stress, anxiety, pressure & overwhelm and how you can improve the experience by using your breathing - the most effective ‘foundational’ performance practice.

Being able to mange pressure better is handy in all walks of life, as a leader it helps you to exude a calmer presence during chaotic moments, creating a ripple effect amongst your team; however it also means having the ability to stay calm when someone cuts you off in traffic or when the kids are driving you crazy, improving your 5km run time, or managing your workload more effectively. Better breathing is useful before, during & after any stress or challenge.

finding peace in his natural habitat

You normally breathe out Carbon Dioxide (CO2) however during breath holds & stressful situations it builds up & ‘usually' triggers feelings of anxiety, panic & discomfort - that’s unless you expose yourself to that trigger a little more often.

In BET we share plenty of knowledge and put you through drills that rapidly improve your physical & mental tolerance to elevated levels of this CO2. Even the understanding that comes from the theory section alone can quickly give you greater control over your emotions, helping you to stay calmer in bigger surf or when under pressure. There’s so much info to read up on breathing these days but ask anyone who’s been through a live workshop and I’m sure they’ll tell you that nothing beats the live experience, it has ALL the feels!!

Super grateful for this week đŸ™đŸŒ 17 years ago we started , back then ‘breath work’ wasn’t really a thing, we’d get confused looks & people would laugh saying “breath training
. who needs to learn how to breathe???” (Seriously!!) But we knew in our hearts we were on to something special, we should persevere & people would be needing this more & more. Today it’s so widely accepted and there are so many teachers, how cool!

We love what we do, how we serve our community & the experience we can provide for those wishing to learn more about the breath.

If you’ve never tried breath work in water add it to your list, it’s pretty special 😉 We might be biased, you tell us?
