Why We Ask You Not to Enter the Classroom

We know it can be tempting to step inside your child’s classroom at pick-up time, but we kindly ask that you follow our no entry policy. Here’s why:

There are two key reasons.

1️⃣ It’s the Montessori way. Maria Montessori herself designed the classroom as a space for children to develop independence and focus.

2️⃣ It impacts all the children, not just your own.

Imagine this: You finish work at 2:00 PM and pick up your child at 2:30 PM. Your child is overjoyed to see you, you chat for a moment, then head home. But another child, whose parent finishes at 4:00 PM and picks up at 5:00 PM, sees this and becomes upset. Instead of continuing to play and engage with activities, they wait anxiously at the door, wondering when their parent will arrive.

We observed this pattern for years. Then, during COVID, when parents couldn’t enter the classrooms, something remarkable happened—children stopped worrying about when others were leaving. They waved goodbye to their friends and carried on, undisturbed. The classroom became calmer, and children thrived with increased confidence and independence.
