Walters Cup wonders revealed by the Courier Mail ahead of round one including PBC Reds players.

Billy Mulheran
A front rower or lock, this middle forward always gets his team going forward with strong carries into the line when needed, while also having a great pass. He is a NSW country team representative who is a member of the under-16 Andrew Johns Northern Rivers Titans side.

Ethan Alcorn
A halfback who has a great running game, Alcorn loves to play with speed and aggression. He is also a member of the under-16 Andrew Johns Northern Rivers Titans team.

Lyric Potu
A centre with tremendous speed and agility which most players can only crave for, Potu has an ability to beat defenders and make him a real weapon on the edge. He played for the under-15 South Coast side.

This season all eight rounds and finals from the Langer Trophy and the Year 10 Walters Cup will be LIVE STREAMED on KommunityTV in a deal with the NRL and Queensland Secondary Schools Rugby League. Click below to view the article

New Faces of the Langer Trophy revealed in today's Courier Mail article include PBC's very own Reds players.

Nelson Makaafi
A whopping edge forward talent who is gathering valuable experience the more he plays. He is a thunderous runner, but also a big hitting defender. If you were a half or a centre playing alongside him, you’d feel like you were surrounded by the Secret Service.

Marley McLaren
Expect to see this halves’ young gun feature in PBC's top side this season. A spritely play maker, McLaren has been a standout junior in his age group. From just over the border in northern NSW, this Broncos-signed half has sat back watching Toby Sexton (Canterbury), Tom Weaver (Titans) and now Zane Harrison (current Langer captain) excel and will be eager to put into practice his own game - and bits and pieces he has learned from those three champion schoolboy halves as well.

A massive thank you to Ryan James and Jotham Russell, who joined our Senior Rugby League groups on Monday for a chat about all things RED!
The two PBC Rugby League Alumni spoke to the group about their PBC Rugby League journey and how it shaped them to post school.
Ryan went on to have 14 seasons in the NRL discussed the ups and downs of playing a professional sport, but also the importance of planning for life after footy.
Jotham’s story was about continuing to do your best at any level and how hard work can lead you to opportunities in life, including the 2024 NFL Draft.
We wish Ryan all the best with his new business endeavours and look forward to hopefully seeing Jotham in the NFL next season, as he recently signed a contract as a rookie with the New England Patriots. 🔴⚪️🔴

Year 8 student Willow recaps PBC Science Club's recent celebration at the World Science Festival.

"At the end of term 1, PBC's Science Club went to the World Science Festival in Brisbane. The students caught a bus up to Southbank and proceeded into the QPAC Playhouse to attend a seminar on future careers by the one and only Dr Karl Kruszelnicki.

We then ventured to the Queensland Museum to participate is a SparkLab workshop. SparkLab is an interactive science display inside the Queensland Museum, and we were given free time inside the lab. We explored many activities such as interactive thermal heat imaging displays, plasma balls, interactive pulleys, centrifugal force simulators and a science show to attend.

We then explored the Queensland Museum. We split into multiple groups and explored all the different exhibits like the insect exhibit, a science show explaining fire and its impacts, as well as watching turtle’s hatch. There was also an exhibit with robots that we attended. After this, we had to call it a day and caught the bus back to PBC."

A great day of science for our engineers and scientists of the future!

PBC has a rich history of academic excellence. Our Academic Excellence program challenges students to reach their highest academic potential through an innovative curriculum creating a unique transition from high school to university. The individual talents of each student in the program are nurtured by our specialist trained teachers, providing support to a high-level curriculum that encourages students to become leaders in their field.
