A selected group of students from The BUSY School Cairns were given the opportunity to attend a site visit with Jet Aviation at the domestic airport πŸ›©οΈ

Students walked through the workshop and viewed the steps of various repairs to the interior and exterior of planes, as well as the layout of electrical components.

Racing towards career goals 🀩

Students from The BUSY School Shailer Park and Coolangatta Campuses who are interested in an Equine pathway were invited by Racing Queensland to tour the Deagon Racecourse today 🐎

This is a great first step to introduce the possibilities of a traineeship or apprenticeship in the Racing industry. Students toured the stables, observed swimming a horse and rode the mechanical horse.

Tane from The BUSY School Ipswich recently undertook a work trial with Rackley Swimming for a school-based traineeship, studying a Certificate III in Business πŸ‘

Emma was an excellent guide, providing a clear understanding of the various aspects of the role. The traineeship offers training in business and lifesaving, and Rackley are happy to support students in undertaking swim coach training as well.

From bullied to brilliance 🀩

Life in school was becoming almost impossible for Lillie as the bullying worsened, causing her to skip school. It wasn't until she came to The BUSY School Cleveland Campus that things began to change.

Lillie has achieved a 97% attendance rate and has become a lot happier and engaged in her learning πŸ™Œ In her final year of school, Lillie has started thinking deeply about what her next steps are and is keen to pursue a career in the Automotive industry πŸ”§

Congrats to Damo from The BUSY School Shailer Park campus for securing a full-time job at D&B Smash Repairs πŸ‘

Having struggled with low confidence and facing discouragement about his abilities, particularly in automotive work, Damo was initially hesitant to pursue his passion. However, with the unwavering support from both his mother and the dedicated staff at The BUSY School Shailer Park, Damo found the courage to enrol in an automotive course.

As he delved deeper into his studies, Damo's confidence began to blossom ✨ Attending an information session on spray painting and panel beating sparked a newfound interest, leading him to embark on a tour with Fortress Collision Repairs. It was there that Damo discovered his true passion for spray painting, igniting a fire within him πŸ”₯

With the guidance of his teachers, Damo's talent flourished, which ultimately led to his job offer from D&B Smash Repairs. Now having left Year 11 to pursue this opportunity full-time, Damo stands as a shining example of perseverance and determination 🀩

Past student, Phoenyx, dropped into The BUSY School Salisbury Campus recently to let us know how much he's enjoying his full-time Commercial Plastering Apprenticeship πŸ‘ He is currently working on a build near the Gabba and is absolutely loving it!

Phoenyx said it was Ingrid's tip about firm handshakes and eye contact that got him the job, so he wanted to thank her for the very useful tip. He also expressed how fortunate he felt from our constant support and helping him get him into the career path he wanted πŸ™Œ

What's new in the zoo πŸ˜‰

Kat from The BUSY School Ipswich Campus is chasing her dream of becoming a zookeeper by training with Lockyer Valley Snake Catchers and completing work experience with Darling Downs Zoo πŸ‘

If all goes well, Kat will hopefully attain a school-based traineeship in Captive Animals, and also plans to start a Certificate ll in Salon - Kat and the animals will have great hair to boot!

Privately owned by Stephanie and Steve Robinson, Darling Downs Zoo is financed by the Robinson’s and their supporters and relies on the continuing patronage of visitors to continue operating and to support the ongoing breeding programs for endangered species. Will and Tane from The BUSY School Ipswich Campus have been working on Hutchinson Builders live site in West Village, as part of their Ready 4 Construction program βš’οΈ

Not only will these students gain their Certificate I in Construction, but they will also get the opportunity to complete work experience with several trades across the course of the year. Will is seriously considering floor technology and Tane is considering all options.
