Do you use child care and have a combined family income below $80,000?

From July, your Child Care Subsidy rate will increase to 90%.

In fact, most families will get an increase. Families earning over $80,000 will get a subsidy that tapers down from 90%, depending on their income.

You’ll also get a higher rate for your second and younger children if you earn below $362,408 and have more than one child aged 5 or under in care.

Music at Gumera everyday is a must, whether it be through a speaker, singing with the children or a range of different instruments. Music ignites all areas of child development and helps the mind and body work together. It lifts the mood in the environment and is great for early literacy and numeracy. Loose parts play has been a great way for our Reed and Willow studios to express their creativity and engagement as they rearrange, redesign, and tinker with the different parts, creating patterns and new objects as they go. This has helped our children use their critical thinking as they work collaboratively together.

A SeaWorld of water play!

One of our children experienced the magic of SeaWorld whilst on holiday. As an extension our Gurai pod created their own SeaWorld fun through water play, discussing all the sea animals that were seen. Their imagination and creativity were stimulated and cognitive development enhanced. Further development towards their language, whilst their wellbeing is being promoted, all through the fun and learning of water play.

Last week our Willow and Reed Studios have been busy working on their pincer grip using a range of resources. Through creativity, the children are building their hand eye coordination, fine motor skills, visual perception, and improving control with their hand and wrist movement towards pre-writing skills.

Reading with children can be discovered in many different ways. Our Lake studio are continuing on with their sensory exploration through sensory bottles created from the different terrains of the famous story book ‘We’re going on a bear hunt.’ These are great engaging visual, auditory and tactile sensory learning that encourages key development skills.

At Gumera Learning Haven we are now officially a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten. Our curriculum will be in line with Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines whilst incorporating and maintaining the School Readiness approach. This program is delivered by an approved Early Childhood Teacher and provides the children with an exciting preparation for school entry the following year.

We welcomed winter 2023 with our snuggly and warm Pyjama day event. These past few mornings and evenings have been very chilly, and warm cozy pyjamas always seem to do the trick. It has been wonderful to see all the children demonstrate their excitement as they see all their friends and educators arrive to kindy in their pyjamas. How do you welcome winter into the year?

Childcare subsidy is changing in July 2023 as fees will become cheaper and helpful for our families.

Reading is a fundamental key towards children’s learning and development, cultivating a lifelong love for books. Jingeri Jimbelung!

Our very first session with Biren cultural group as we explore the traditions of the Aboriginal culture. From Ochre to possum and snake skin, dance, and stories on beautiful art pieces were a beautiful way to introduce our children to the Aboriginal culture. We can’t wait for our next session with Cody as we begin to authentically embed the culture within our service.

Our Waterlily and Arum studio have also been exploring sensory play through their ongoing project based learning of the famous story book “the hungry caterpillar.” Using different elements of textures the children further their vocabulary and language development, social interactions and encourage investigation and exploration.

Our Lake studio children boost their self confidence and self esteem within their gross motor development through play. It encourages their ability to assess risks, and provides an avenue for them to release their energy as they move alongside their peers in our outdoor play space and teacher initiated experiences. What a wonderful way to see our older babies create connections with one another as most of them prepare for taking their first steps to walking.

Our NUMALA pod have been exploring sensory play in a range of different experiences throughout their week at Gumera. The use of soothing textures, smells, and sounds can calm the body and mind. Meet our Centre Manager 💚

Hello everyone, my name is Angi (Ahhh-ngee) and I have the honour of being the centre manager at Gumera Learning Haven. I lead a magnificent team of dedicated and committed educators who strive to provide exceptional quality care.

I have been in the industry for over 20 years and have a great passion in children’s learning and development, mentoring, guiding. supporting a team and working in collaboration with families and the community to provide a great outcome towards children’s early childhood journey.

As a leader I believe that everyone has a strength or talent to offer within our team and know that this is a stepping stone towards guiding leaders to become leaders. As an educator, I have always stood firm in my belief that between the ages of 0-5 years is the most vital stage of children’s lives as they learn and begin to make understanding of the world they live in.

I am excited to be on this journey and look forward to creating authentic partnerships with current and new families, the community and last but certainly not least, the young and wonderful children you entrust us with. 💚

Meet our Arum studio lead educator Miss Nikki.

Hi, My name is Nikki.
I’m the lead educator in the 2.5-3.5 (Arum Studio) and 3IC at Gumera Learning Haven. I hold a Diploma in early childhood and have been working in the industry for over 12 years.
I’m passionate about working with children and enjoy creating a program that caters to all children’s learning styles as each child is unique and special in their own way.

I believe in having open communication and encourage parent input as I believe building positive relationships between myself and my families creates a secure and safe environment.

Our Lotus Studio children have settled in lovely as they continue to play and explore alongside their peers. We enjoy watching them accomplish their developmental milestones and share gratitude having the ability to watch them learn and grow.

Some of our Waterlily and Arum Studio children have showed an interest in babies, and as an extension the children were able to freely approach learning provocations of different ways of caring for and nurturing babies.

Our Centre will be CLOSED on Monday 1st of May 2023 for the Labour Day public Holiday. We hope you all have a safe and enjoyable long weekend.

Our outdoor space for children to have ample amounts of shade but also the flow of fresh air, are open ended for children to explore and learn through play. It also allows our educators to teach and encourage children to care and nurture our multiple interactive garden beds we have to offer. With a range of bush tucker, fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices and plants, we are able to nourish them to grow and flourish.

Anzac biscuits were part of our learning journey today, as the children helped Miss Lisa our centre cook in a cooking experience. Cooking for children is a great introduction for basic mathematic concepts, building further language skills and laying a foundation to healthy eating habits. With a range of dietary requirements within our service, the children gain introduction to awareness of allergies. The ingredients used for these Anzac biscuits were inclusive for all.

Open Day Event Happening Tomorrow!!

We are ready, we are excited and we are looking forward to seeing the community come in and see our service. We have a range of foods to purchase, Biren cultural performance, face painters, food samples from our menu and a beautiful service to share with you all between 9am and 12pm. Gold Coast's very own Sea FM will be here to join us and will have prizes to give away, Pattysmits's Burgers selling bacon and egg rolls and your Saturday morning coffee will be on hand with Black Moose coffee cart.
