This month at Ngala, we are acknowledging the strong women leaders in our lives, as part of the Community, Respect & Equality initiative.
Our Midwest Parenting Connection Team believes being a strong women leader means embracing who you are!
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to be
their best. In August 2016, the Geraldton Regional Community Education Centre merged with Ngala.
Today, we're known as Ngala Midwest and Gascoyne. We have serviced the Midwest Gascoyne and Murchison regions of WA since 1975. Since then, we've delivered a diverse range of programs. Ngala is a provider of parenting services with a passion for supporting and guiding families through the journey of parenting. Our services are available to families, children, young people and other service providers. Our online information is available to everyone.

This month at Ngala, we are acknowledging the strong women leaders in our lives, as part of the Community Respect & Equality initiative.
Strong Self Strong Spirit spoke to their participants about what the Community Respect & Equality is, what gender equality means to our them, we learnt that gender equality is when boys and girls enjoy the same rights, resources, opportunities, and protections.
We played a true or false game to test our understanding, with participants moving around the room if they thought the statement was true or false. Statements included: boys are stronger and faster than girls, only girls are kind, girls can cry, boys canโt, boys and girls are brave, boys and girls deserve the same opportunities. We stopped and talked about our beliefs and why we felt a certain way with lots of stories and examples!
We then spoke about strong, independent women in our lives and in the media (especially The Matildas and The Diamonds recently), and wrote a thankyou note to a strong, independent woman or girl in our lives.
Apologies for any inconvenience. Due to the small number of registrations, we have postponed this program. New date TBA

At Play and Yarn, we were very lucky to have Constable Cable to visit us! We recognise Constable Cable as a young strong women leader in Geraldton, in her role with Mid West - Gascoyne District - WA Police Force and being the captain of her footy team.
Children enjoyed story time with Constable Cable, wearing her police hat, and seeing the flashing lights on her police car.
