Two of our MWPA team members graduated from Ngala Midwest & Gascoyne's 2021 Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Program last month.

Throughout the 9-month program, these talented individuals spoke with many business leaders to learn about leadership roles in each monthly session and worked with other graduates to share their experiences, develop their leadership abilities and to graduate as leaders 🎓🎓

One of the MWPA team members who attended the sessions said it was a great opportunity to be selected and she learnt to enhance her leadership skills by getting a better understanding of the individuals in her team.

An outdoor graduation was held last month to celebrate their accomplishments throughout their journey, which included reflecting on sessions and their community projects over the course of the program.

We can’t wait to see what they’ll continue to contribute to our Port and community!

A big very thank you to Jen from Ngala Midwest & Gascoyne for coming along to our Mum's group today to chat about early childhood brain development. Jen also did some very helpful mindfulness exercises with us and finished off with a lovely story for the bubs by Alison Lester. 💛

Tackling Indigenous Smoking Educator Kelly Capewell from the GRAMS Gascoyne Outreach Service (GOS) was invited to Ngala Midwest & Gascoyne to promote the Tackling Indigenous Smoking program and message.

Ngala organised some crafting activities at the Ngala office for the ladies to decorate and unleash their creativity. Participants also got to take home a goody bag filled with stationery and self-care items.

Thanks for having us!
LEAD (Leadership Exploration and Development for 18 - 35 year olds) is a great initiative developed by Ngala Midwest & Gascoyne.

Today Lara Dalton MLA and I had the opportunity to speak on a discussion panel with LEAD participants to talk about personal branding and leadership. It was a great discussion with some interesting questions posed by the LEAD participants.

Also on the panel and sharing their experience, wisdom and stories were Warren Taylor from Warren Taylor Homes, Helen Ansell from Helen Ansell Art, Pia Richardson from Railway Health Hub, and Kate York, Assistant Manager from Bendigo Bank - Community Bank Geraldton.

"Leadership is about helping others become the best version of themselves, so they can do their life's best work while in your care and beyond."
- a Clarism

Every year we support the Ngala Midwest & Gascoyne LEAD program by running a session, donating #books, and #sponsoring one of the participants.

Last week I was up in Geraldton West Australia, and instead of donating my books (www.leadershipissimple.com), my amazing friend Amy Jacobson donated a couple of books that I passed onto the #program to use.

I asked Emma McNerney to grab a photo with the books, but she said they got snapped up to quickly by program participants! They did send these snaps back tho.

Thank you Amy for your support and contribution to these future leaders!

Last month we celebrated 8 amazing local leaders completing their LEAD journey, funded by City of Greater Geraldton, Community Bank Geraldton and Mid West Ports Authority and sponsored by Dave Clare - The Prophet For Purpose. Lara Dalton MLA, Rotary Club of Batavia Coast and Sandra Carr MLC. 40 guests attended an intimate Graduation event held in our gardens where 3 participants spoke to the audience about their community impact progress and LEAD journey, and 5 participants setup showcases to display the same.

The grounds were set up beautifully by Sweet Orange Productions, the delicious dinner by Tarts & Co., the atmospheric sounds by Mel Carter and Little Miss Music, the dessert experience by Sweet Designs and moments captured by Mullermind Creative.
