In term 4, classes 1-9 will come together for an exciting and environmentally conscious event: WA Beach Clean Up Day at Drummond's Cove!

As the day unfolds, our enthusiastic students will venture out onto the picturesque Drummond's Cove beach armed with gloves, bags, and a keen eye for litter. With a shared commitment to preserving our natural environment, they will diligently collect debris, ranging from plastic waste to discarded fishing gear. This hands-on experience will provide them with a tangible understanding of the environmental challenges our planet faces.

Following the cleanup activities, our senior students will gather with the NACC representative to analyse the materials they've collected. This crucial step allows students to connect their efforts with the larger picture of marine conservation. Through this analysis, they will gain insights into the types and sources of litter affecting our coastlines, contributing to their understanding of sustainable practices and the importance of reducing waste.

Together, we can make a positive impact on our local environment and instill lifelong values of sustainability and stewardship in our students.

This year, Junior Landcare is celebrating 25 years of opening children’s hearts and hands to Landcare.

To help celebrate, we are teaming up with Junior Landcare ambassador, Costa Georgiadis, for a special letter-writing campaign in T4 that’s calling on kids to share what they love most about the environment – and the steps they’re taking to protect it.

“The more you engage with nature, the more you appreciate it; and the more you appreciate it, the more likely you are to want to protect it,” shares Costa.

By submitting our letters, we have a chance to win a visit from Costa to our little big school...how cool would that be?

Jilinbiri Room, Class 2 + 3

Today students participated in a golf incursion and the sound of whooping and laughter could be heard echoing all over the school grounds.
Even Karen our administrator had a go and told us she was leaving her day job.

⛺️Class 6 Camp ⛺️

Last week, our class 6 students spent a week on country at Charles Darwin Reserve, which lies on the northern edge of the West Australian wheatbelt. It is at the centre of about a million hectares of former pastoral land that is now being managed and restored for nature conservation.
The reserve is a diverse landscape. It has a number of ecosystems that cross the Mulga-Eucalypt line, a biogeographical line that marks a major change in climate and ecosystems.

The Randolph Stow Young Writers Award was first inaugurated in 1989 by the Geraldton Mid-West Regional group of the Australian Library and Information Association and the Geraldton Regional Library.

The project aims to encourage young writers in the art of creative writing. This year the Library received 545 entries from schools across the Midwest region.

Here at Leaning Tree Steiner School, one talented student from the year 9 class was highly commended and won a scholarship for tutoring with a published writer!

Annual River Walk 2023

This fantastic tradition precedes National Tree Week and encourages the students to develop an understanding and relationship with this beautiful resource right here in Geraldton.
The students spent the day appreciating Spalding Park, Chapman River and the surrounding walking trails and beach area. Each class explored different paths, which varied in length depending on the age of the students.
Our students engaged in several activities to extend their experience on the walk which included science surveys, bush art and poetry writing.

Mikayla has been chosen as the Australian Flag Bearer at the opening Mass for World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal.
She will be travelling with 31 other people to Spain, Portugal and France on a 2-week pilgrimage with 5 days being spent in Lisbon. Mikayla may even have the chance to meet the Pope if she is lucky! 🤩
