Our Career Development Officer and Indigenous Mentor Karlee was introduced to Loretta while visiting Amity Health in Moora.
Karlee helped Loretta create a Career Action Plan and discussed achievable goals. Karlee then looked at Loretta's resume and discussed how it could be updated to better suit the type of employment she was looking for. With Karlee's assistance, Loretta's resume was updated in a flash to reflect her experiences and qualifications.
Now that Loretta's resume was up-to-date, she set up a Seek account using the laptops at JSC and made Karlee aware that she was keen to work anywhere in Moora. Karlee guided Loretta to apply for multiple employment opportunities that suited her qualifications.
Karlee had been told of a kitchen hand role at Moora Hospital, so she assisted Loretta with submitting an application and was invited to attend an interview. Shortly after the interview finished, Karlee received a phone call from Loretta to hear the exciting news that she was successful in securing the role.
Congratulations to Loretta, a great way to start 2022!

Elly visited the Northam JSC team to get assistance in creating a new resume. She noted that she was new to the town and her child caring commitment could be a barrier in gaining employment. Brent helped Elly to identify the skills used in child caring and reassured her these skills would be valuable and transferable to many industries.
Brent also assisted Elly with researching local training options that would suit her career aspirations, and enrolling her into an agricultural skill set at Muresk Institute. This skill set enabled Elly to gain industry experience, as well as a new referee.
Elly with assistance from Brent completed job applications for support worker positions, and was then invited to attend an interview with Avivo, which Brent helped her prepare for, and she was successful in securing a position as a Support Worker.
Great work Elly, we wish you all the best in your new role.
