🎉 Welcome to the Hive! 🎉

Dear families and staff,

As many of you will now know, your service is now a part of the hive at Busy Bees Australia. We are so excited to welcome you and can't wait to get to know you over the coming weeks.

We look forward to personally welcoming you and your children to our Busy Bees family and to providing your children with the quality education and care that they deserve. We thank you in advance for your patience and support as we begin this exciting journey with you! 🐝

⭐️ EDUCATOR’S DAY ⭐️

Today we celebrated our educators and the important role they play in children’s lives.
We received lots of kind words and messages from the families and we are so proud to be making a difference in our little peoples lives 🥰
🌉 Last week the Kinder 2 children showed interest in bridges. The children took part in a bridge making contest where they made a bridge that could stand, fit a hand underneath it and hold a wooden figurine on top of it. The children used trial and error to test what works and what didn’t work to get the bridges to stand up. The children showed persistence as they continued to modify the bridge so it could meet the requirements. The children cheered their peers on as they tested the bridges to see if they were successful. All the children were successful by making modifications where needed.
Well done Kinder 2 children 😁
Last week we celebrated CBCA Book Week. We all enjoyed dressing up as our favourite characters and bringing our favourite books to kinder. The children participated in a variety of activities based on some of our favourite books. The children read the story Room on the broom by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The children discussed what animals will be light and which ones will be heavy. The children used their creativity skills to make a broomstick for the witch that is light so it can fly. Each child investigated how they could make a broomstick that was light and would fly. The children also discussed the book Elmer the Patchwork Elephant by David McKee. The children then had the opportunity to design and make a patchwork elephant displaying their creativity skills. The children also discussed patterns and how each elephant is different but still the same animal.
BOOK WEEK 2021 📚

Next week we will be celebrating Book Week.
We would love to see your children dressed as their favourite book characters, please also feel free to bring your child's favourite book for us to read ☺️
"Who Sank The Boat" by Pamela Allen
After reading the story Who Sank The Boat, the Kinder children got into 2 teams and made their own boats. After making their boats they went outside and hypothesised about whether the boats would float or sink. One of the boats floated and the other sank, the children then discussed why they thought the boat floated and the other sank.
It was great to see the children working as a team!
For the past 2 weeks the children have been learning all about the Olympics including what continent each coloured ring represents. As they learnt about the sports that are part of the Olympics they got to then have a go at participating in the sport. Some of the sport they got to learn about and participate in are Volleyball, weightlifting, gymnastics, long jump, triple jump, relay racing, basketball, shot put and many more.
Just a reminder that this week is Pyjama week. ALL WEEK so that no one misses out
Come dressed in your favourite pjs for a week of fun and learning.
Pyjama week is all about raising funds and awareness for foster care. Donations will be taken at the front office, with all proceeds going towards those in foster care.
Over the past week the Kinder 2 children have been learning all about the Torres Strait Island and Aboriginal flags.
They have learnt that the green stripes on the Torres Strait Island flag represent the land, the black stripes represent the people, and the blue represents the sea. The Dhari in the middle of the flag is a traditional headdress worn by the Torres Strait Island people.
The children have also learnt that the black part of the Aboriginal flag represents the people, red represents the earth and the yellow represents the sun.
The children then had the opportunity to have a go at painting both the flags.
“NAIDOC Week is utilised throughout our service as an
ongoing opportunity to enhance our learning and foster
cultural inclusiveness.”

Here at Kalman Road Early & Kinder we acknowledge The Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people as the traditional owners of the land.
Come down and say hi to us at the South Morang Farmers & Makers Market 9am-1pm today 😁

Yesterday the Kinder children celebrated International Nurse Day. International Nurse Day is a day that celebrates the amazing efforts that nurses around the world do to look after us. The children discussed what the role of a nurse is and what nurses have done for them. The children then helped make a card that thanks nurses for their amazing efforts to help everyone when they are unwell. The children then drew pictures which we passed on to Karen Tamsin’s mum who works at the hospital. The children were very excited to pass these on to say thankyou for helping our community.

Today we had a visit from Dr Swati from North Star Dental. The children got their teeth checked and cleaned and Dr Swati spoke to them about the importance of brushing their teeth morning and night and not forgetting about the back teeth too.
Thank-you Dr Swati 😁

Last Thursday the kinder children celebrated National Kindergarten Day, a day that recognises the importance that Kindergarten plays in our children's early education. The kinder children celebrated by making cupcakes and each having their own cupcake and candle to blow out. The children also celebrated playing party games and having a dance party with their friends. Our kinder children love having the opportunity to play, learn and make friends here at Kalman Road.

❤R U OK? Day❤ 10th September

This Day raises awareness and encourages you to reach out and start a conversation with people around you perhaps simply by asking them if they are okay.

Our Kinder children have been having a discussion about how we can help people who are not okay and support others. Remember to provide support to those who need help.

Normally Book Week would be celebrated next week but it has been postponed to October. We have decided however to continue with Book Week celebrations.

We are asking that everyone (at home and at our service) celebrate with us by dressing up as their favourite book characters or movie characters throughout the week AND we are inviting you all to bring along your favourite books to share your favourite stories.

We would love to see parents, children and educators of our community sharing their favourite stories via the xplor home app next week 😊

Very much looking forward to seeing everyone in costume next week and listening to all of your favourite stories!!

At Kalman road we are doing our part to ensure health measures are in place for our community. We understand that this is unprecedented times and a challenge for all. However the most precious and innocent still deserve to feel love and warmth from their loved ones. Allowing us to be apart of that is a joy and a honour we all appreciate. Keep safe from Kalman Road team 😄

[07/13/20]   Families, too ensure we are keeping our community safe we will continue to check children's temperature on arrival. We understand that we are all going through a difficult time, if we all do our part we can see some changes. Keep safe xx
