Heritage Activities at ALHCS Quarter Campus

On Wednesday, our History teachers, Ms. Lake and Mr. Gumbs, brought history to life by taking learning beyond the classroom and into the outdoors.

Third-year students had the opportunity to experience traditional Anguillian cooking methods firsthand, connecting with their cultural heritage in a fun, interactive, and meaningful way. Students learned how to bake Johnny cakes in a drum, fry fish, and prepare soup using rocks and firewoodโ€”skills that have been passed down through generations.

Laughter, teamwork, and curiosity filled the air as students eagerly participated, asked questions, and gained a deeper appreciation for these traditional practices. Interested students, teachers, and parents also joined the activities, learning new skills, sharing experiences, and enjoying the delicious meals prepared together.

The event fostered a wonderful atmosphere of culture, learning, and community spirit, leaving everyone with full stomachs, new knowledge, and lasting memories.

A special thank you to Aunty Pat, Tracey, Maggie, Latoya, Janice and Mrs. Ruan for generously sharing their time, expertise, and support in making this cultural experience both educational and memorable.
