The Ministry has taken the decision to close schools tomorrow *Tuesday October 3, 2023.*

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has upgraded the tropical storm watch to a warning for both Antigua and Barbuda, amidst the impending severe weather from Tropical Storm Philippe.

The Met Office has indicated that the chance of storm-force winds impacting us is now at 90% for Barbuda and 70% for Antigua.

Additionally, several of our public educational institutions are used as shelters and are currently being activated by NODS to be available for public access from 6:30 pm.

In memory of Hadassah Christine Charles

The Board of Trustees and staff of the Sunnyside Tutorial School mourn the passing of one of our brightest stars, Hadassah Christine Charles.

We are deeply saddened that Hadassah who graduated from Sunnyside Tutorial School in June, 2021 died on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile, her willingness to help wherever she saw the need, her energetic disposition and endearing personality.

We extend deepest sympathies to her family and loved ones. May you find solace in her precious memories. We pray that God will provide the comfort that you need during this time of sadness and bereavement.

Dear Grade 6 Parents/Guardians,

The Ministry of Education granted permission for face to face teaching of Grade 6 students, effective October 18th, 2021. We are elated for this opportunity and look forward to the return of all other classes.

As we make the necessary preparations in welcoming back the students, it is paramount that we remain vigilant in the observance of the COVID 19 Protocols previously established. The students have been away from school and their friends for some time and we are sure they will be happy to see each other on their return. Please therefore, remind them of the following:

• A six feet distance as much as possible from other people continues to be expected of them.
• Masks should be worn correctly covering both mouth and nose at all times.
• They are to submit themselves for a temperature check daily prior to entering the school’s gate.
• They are not permitted to enter the classroom unless their hands are properly washed or sanitized.
• No borrowing or exchanging of items (school supplies, food items, etc.) is permitted.


School commences at 7:45am and will finish at 1:30pm for the Grade 6 classes. Please be advised that the classrooms are locked and will be opened at 7:30am daily. To this end, and to further ensure the safety of the children, we ask that no child be dropped off for school before 7:30 am. All students are expected to be attired in their regular uniforms.

Our focus continues to be keeping your children safe while they are learning. We are indeed happy to welcome them back. SEE YOU ALL ON MONDAY.
